Hi there guys, basically as the military man of our group of mates, i've been tasked with planning our first international road trip.

I've taken the guys over a lot of the UK, some bad places and some good ones, and arranged accomodation etc with a minimum of fuss.

However ive not been out boozing in Europe so my skills are going to be tested on this one.

Basically there will be between three and seven of us (last minute road trip numbers vary wildly)

Now i dont really wanna do amsterdam or prague, as im missing a trip to prague with them next month, and being in the forces id rather not be tempted to sample the stuff that is legal in amsterdam.

So basically im looking for somewhere we could split petrol and drive to within reasonable distance (about 500 miles would do), with a good night scene, maybe even cheap drinks and lodgings.

please help me out with ideas/experiences......

any help appreciated

Head for Roermond, just over the border into Deutschland there is a Military garrison with RAF personnel still stationed there (Bruggen) so if you get into any dramas unexpectedly you can get sorted out.

Roermond is quite friendly towards the Brits and is a good night out on the pop until around 4am :)

Its a major Royal Signals garrison now that Elmpt Station is setup, it used to be RAF Bruggen as you are probably aware ;)

And i have been on to that base more than a few times as it always used to be 21 Signal Regiment (Air Support) before it moved over to 280 Sig Sqn and 7th and 16th Signal Regiments, the place is massive and only about 10 miles from the Dutch border.

Given that the town is pretty squaddie orientated (although it doesnt tend to be that bad for trouble) most of the locals are well used to soldiers and more importanly English :)

what i need to know though mate are the three important squaddie things:

How cheap is the booze,

How vheap is a cheap hotel,

How likely are the lads to get laid?

your help sir is most valuable :)
