Guys I wondered if in your extencive knowledge and wisdom you could help me....

I recently changed my foot pegs for some tasty Motrax alloys. Shortly after my bike developed a vibration which began as a tingling in the pegs. Which I could feel more because the standard ones are rubber crap!

Anyways over the month the vibration got a bit worse and i can feel via the tank and pegs. Its worse on the downshift.

I checked the chain and sprockets for tigt spots and it seems ok.
I had the wheels checked and the barings are ok.
I had the covers off and the engine seems solid so cant be a mount.
I thought of clutch judder but when I rev the engine when not in motion I get the vibration so cant be the clutch!
The bike hasnt lost any performance and is on about 14k....
Any ideas would be wonderful guys!

Many thanks!

I could be totallty wrong and it could have nothing to do with it whatsoever.....but.........(and I had this prob on my old srad but it was more the bars vibrating than the pegs) have you checked the headstock bearings ?......just a thought.

Its a thought....
But I doubt that this vibration is linked to that due to the vibration being isolated to the pegs and tank!

Thanks for trying tho mate!

Swing arm bearings can give and transmit a vibration through the frame.

you would definitely feel that through both, and the headstock bearings could cause it too, just because its isolated to them areas doesnt mean it can be ruled out, the frame can soak up vibration through the engine mounts and onto the engine, but you would still feel vibration through sensitive areas like the feet and also big air filled things like tanks ;)

Was thinkin bout this last night....That was my next idea ! Its all attached to the frame mate........so it really could be anything.......as the pres said rule nothing out. Good luck.

Just to get the bleedin' obvious out of the way, are you sure that it isnt a case of you didnt notice it with the standard pegs on? When you have put on the new pegs they will be lighter (and heres the science bit) and therefore have a different harmonic frequency so will resonate at a different frequency to the originals, therefore transmitting a vibration through the pegs which you percieve to be coming through the tank as well. Have you seen couriers put blue tack on their mirrors to prevent vibration?
As a test, put the normal pegs on and see if it still happens.

p.s. the rubber on the stock pegs was probably put there for a reason. ;)
