Ladies & Gentleman of the Forum:grin2

On Sunday 4th June 2006 at about 1300 hrs the Guvnor was involved in a serious head on collision with a motor vehicle whilst travelling in slow moving traffic through Coppice Row, Abridge. He was on his way to the Sunday meet at High Beech.

Already being at High Beech I was contacted and made my way to the scene were I found the Guv on a backboard being loaded into an Ambulance. His bike in several pieces along the kerb. He was travelling with two others (Matt and Simon, thanks guys you did great) who were unhurt but very much shaken.

The female driver of the motor vehicle was also unhurt and Police were in attendance.

I spent several hours (With the assistance of Kev – Silverdreammachine and his lady wife Dawn, thanks guys) getting the remains of the Guv’s bike - mangled machine is an understatement - recovered to a local workshop.

The rumour mill I am aware has already kicked in, so to clarify matters the bike was not turned into a flaming fireball and the Guvnor has NOT broken his neck. He was conscious and on form as he refused to let the Ambulance crew cut off his leathers!!

He has been hospitalised and has a nasty injury to his right leg/knee and is now in the capable hands of his family and the NHS (God help us!!)

I would kindly ask ALL the forum members the following on behalf of the Guvnor and his family

PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT badger or hassle Angie or the staff at the pub, they are obviously shocked and upset and need to be left in peace for now.

He is in a local hospital and visiting is strictly on the basis of family and whoever the Guvnor or his family contact personally to visit. It is not envisaged to be a lengthy stay and all being well he should be home during the week.

Please do NOT speculate as to what happened or listen to rumour control, until all the statements and facts are discovered it is an open incident, (in my professional opinion it was the fault of the car driver and I wont give my view’s here on the attitude of the Essex Police!)

Yes, there are pictures etc, but at this time they will NOT BE POSTED until such a time as the Guvnor wants them to be – they are a tad shocking and his new middle name is ‘Very Lucky’. Obviously, there are people who are aware of the more intimate details of what happened but it isn't appropriate for it to be discussed at this time as an investigation is in hand.

As and when I have updates I will post them to this thread or alternately you can contact me via a PM or MSN.

The Guvnor sends his regards to you all and asks that we all be careful out there. Please respect his wishes and that of his family and he will see you all very soon.

Oh my dear Lord.......................NO WAY!I just came onto the forum quickly before i left for work.....I literaly spouted the words 'NO FU CKING WAY' as i saw the thread, and my mouth was open through reading it! man......I hope he is gonna be o.k! it would be nice to know a little more, but like you said its only fair that we wait for him to say what ever, and more conclusive stuff to come through.............I ****ing HATE Car Drivers! The Guvnor is having surgery this afternoon to repair his damaged leg/knee - not only is his new name 'Very Lucky' but Barry Sheen wouldnt go amiss! He is having four screws placed into the injury to put everything back where it rightfully belongs.:grin2

And being in joyful spirits he has asked the surgeon if he can have any left over screws for his new bike as they are Titanium......lolol:laugh1

Myself or silverdream will update you later with how it all goes....Angie is fine and sends her best wishes to all but today is an important day so please try to resist the urge to be over zealous in any enquiries you make if you happen to pop by the pub. Its only the staff there as obviously the family will be at the hospital during today.

She does appreciate everyone's support and Im sure we will all be having a beer soon and chewing the fat....BUUURRGGGEERRSSS.

:laugh1 Excellent news.....the leg/knee injury has been extensively reviewed this morning and the decision has now been made that the knee will not be pinned.

Therefore the Guvnor is going to be placed in an almost full length cast with a lovely hinge in the middle.

All being well he should be home tomorrow.:rockon

As for WEDNESDAYS MEET - its still on regardless of whether or not he is home and the barbeque will be a flamin.....lolol:clap

and there go his plans for free titanium screws. never mind!

so glad it's going his way, the recovery period for pinning/metalwork etc is not nice and the physio is horrendous.

I just saw this.

I haven't been here long and didn't think I'd met anyone from here but in reading through the last three pages and noticing The Gov's location, I realised I do know him (in passing) as I work in the post office next door to the pub and go in friday nights when I'm on nightshifts with Scotch Ian and Big Col.

So I'd like to wish the landlord all the best and glad it wasn't even more serious.

And when I get off my gay 125 and jump on a proper machine, I'll be in for the bike night.

Quick update, Guv has had his cast fitted this afternoon, (loads of drawing space) and has been up and about practising on his zimmer frame. HA HA HA
All being well he'll be at the pub with us all Wednesday evening, apologising for not being able to get to the BP for 7.30pm. (He can't wheelie that far)

Well boys and girls I decided to go and have a post accident chill out tonight and abandoned the forum for a natter with the girls.:grin2

However I did mange to pop in for a quick hello to the Guv who albeit is still very sore and tired was on form and is happy he can at least wobble on his cruthes to the bike shed for a faagggggg...lolol:clap

He is very humbled and grateful for all the best wishes and it looks like he may be released tomorrow after some further X-rays.:rockon

He has a delightful looking hinged cast that would be more at home in a torture chamber :headbash but it beats the bolts on the first prognosis.

Get your pens ready because as Silverdreammachine stated in his earlier post there is loads of room on that cast.....:laugh2

I too had a cast on for 2 months earlier on this year and I know how much of a pain in the arse it is!

What can I say.....

Ive always known what a great site this is and how genuine the people are on here...but I never expected what I have got over the past few days.
I want to thankyou all individually but cant so its gonna have to be an online group hug !
I truly appreciate all the support you guys have given since sunday. It means a lot and is helping me push on..........thankyou.
I must admit Im struggling a bit today.......think its kickin in that I was soooo bloody lucky to get away with just a broken knee !! But hey.....8 weeks time it will be a distant memory and I will have another secret :laugh1 .

I will put another msg up saying thanks to a couple of guys inparticular simply because without them on the day I would have been stuffed.

But that doesnt take away anything from the rest of you. I said it once and ill say it again.........your support has made me laugh and cry........I never expected it and dont understand why I deserve it.........but I appreciate it more than I can say.

Lastly.......

Accidents happen........but its better if they can be avoided........please be carefull........dont want anyone else to go through this.....trust me it sucks !

We're all chuffed to bits to know you're back on your feet (crutches) as such, and yes we had a little whip round for you, but you deserve it mate.

The fact that you are so popular; the accident and how it happened; the severity of it all; the days in hospital; knowing how bad it could have been and how lucky you really were; I'm sure under these circumstances everyone would agree with me in saying we'd do it again.

So your thanks is all that is required, none of this "I owe you" what are friends for, if they can't help you out in your time of need.

Anyway get well soon you old b***ard, listen to what the doctors tell you and don't over do it.

Glad to see your on the road to recovery Guv:clap :clap it's so good to here your ok, my stomach turned when I first heard the news, especially when I realised I was about 100 yards from where it happened. I know you have loads of people helping you out so I will just add to the list, If you need anything at any time and none of your many many many friends are about, let me know. I'm only up the road. Sorry I couldn't come and say hello on wednessday, I was working nights wednesday and thursday,( I've just got up). Hopfully I'll be able to pop in next week.:grin2
