Yup thats it, little miss careful bottled out of a corner, straightened up, panicked, looked over my sholder to make sure i wasnt about to take a car out, and hit the kerb, well thats about all i remember, the front wheel went up the kerb, i thought "**** this is gonna hurt" and next thing i remember is a police officer asking if i could hear him, spent the evening in broomfields, fractured right across my knee, got a splint on and cant put ant weight on my left leg at all! so no work and lots of practise on the crutches, not easy in our tiny flat!

Ah well, did the gym induction first and spent a nice afternoon at Elly's so cant complain.

Be careful guys!

Pain isnt too bad, knee is strapped up in a big blue splint, so as long as i stay still im fine, but im so bloody hot, cant go out coz i keep bein sick and/or fainting (ive never fainted in my life, its a new experience!) so im layin on the sofa, keep hobbling to the bed, laying down, getting bored, coming back. head hurts but ive got a good nurse (he went out this morning for food and pain killers and has just gone out again for ice cream!) so im doing ok.

Bit gutted bout my bike, dont really know what the damage is like, but it seemed to be mostly front end, fairings, screen and forks so dad's calling to pick it up from malden tomorrow, will see how it goes!

I think its the opposite leg to the Guv (i've done my left) so we could help each other along! haha

anyways can only have the pc on for a few minutes, it hurts my head.

Thanks for the best wishes

Ouch, **** sweetie, poor you and poor bike, hope you ain't in too much pain and that you get better soon, also hope the bike is repairable too. Was it just you versus the kerb hun, you should have known the concrete hits harder :laugh1 :laugh1 When your out and about go and hit it with a hammer and see how it likes being broken, just don't get caught. :jumping2

yup just me verus the kerb, but the stinging nettles and small bush provided a softish landing, plus they gave me morphine at the site so i barely even noticed the nettle stings!! It was on the a12 so cant see me taking a hammer to the floor very inconspicuously!

But i could have done this in winter, then i wouldnt be so hot, its ridiculously unbareable. plus living in the first floor means just getting out of the flat is so hard its not worth doing till im stronger on my feet, wellllll foot! lol

Tell me bout it, had just left Elly's in chelmsford! theres a nice tight right hander there, well it wasnt that nice clearly, luckily the roads were quiet and there was a police car a few cars back who didnt see it but was able to block the road off, not that it mattered, i was no-where near the road! lol

Thought:

What about those that have more than 10 years (5 years - just thinking out loud) accident free riding getting together with some of the younger members and maybe pointing out some obvious do's and don't's? Perhaps a seperate thread? Maybe a ride out with alternate 'oldies' and 'newbies'?

A lot of riders just can't afford professional training I guess. I reckon there are so many experienced riders around here that could offer some advice and practical tips for the younger ones.

Ideas peeps?

Yea im ok, feeling a lot better today, got the strongest painkillers tesco's would sell him, back and neck is starting to ache and got a bit of gravel rash on my lower back coz my leather jacket must have lifted slightly, but its all bearable, gutted bout the bike, still havent heard from my dad, i dont think i even wanna see her, will break my heart, ahhhh well, new bik time maybe, Ross keeps tryin to talk me into a 6 but im quite happy on a 4, i just want my baby back! Tone, no offence but there wasnt really much of a mistake on my part other than looking ahead and not bottleing out of the corners like i usually do by slowing up, but by bottleing too late and straightening up. Plus thanks to Essex Police I'm likely to get advanced driver training! Rather than punish drivers by giving out fine's and points when they have an acident that the police put down to carelessness. they know try to educate them by putting them forwards for this advanced course, they say i fit the cryteria coz no one else was involved and i wasnt speding or doing anything stupid, like reading the directions on my tank pad (which were luckily directions to Elly's in chelmsford and it was clear i hadnt been needing them anymore!) the only sting in the tail is it costs £170 which i have to pay, so i guess thats my punishment and the last of my birthday money gone!

Guv, I know, its sooooo bloody hot! Least you got a rather nice beer garden to sit in, Im stuck in a tiny flat, with a flight of stairs between me and the outside, nowhere to go if i do risk the stairs, and my other halfs gone to work, im just trying to decide if its worth fighting my way over to the fridge for a cold bottle of water! Its bloody boring and im so stuborn that i wanna go out, but i dont think my arm muscles could get me all the way too town! Just gotta sit here and wait for my mum to come save me, will ask her if she'll bring the cage to the WH this week so i can come along, we can have our own cripple corner! lol :cuddle

your insurance should cover that though surely???

i agree on the riding skills sarah, it's not necessarily the younger ones who are the most inexperienced tbh.

i rode with someone yesterday (who shall remain nameless because his head is big enough already :grin2 ) who is a lot younger than me, has had their licence for considerably less time than me but rode really really safely i thought. and they didnt hang around by any means.

i like (most of) the rideouts we go on because of the mixture of riding skills that everyone brings. most people are sensible enough not to push themselves too far beyond their own limits - and to be honest if they;re not, then i'm not sure it's advanced training they need, more like a smack in the gob!!!

i learn loads from riding with everyone but am stubborn enough not to let anyone else lead me into trouble......i'm quite capable of doing that myself as yesterday's spot of impromptu farming proved!

Meh, Robby's o.k! everyone just be bloody carefull! have spoken to Sarah......And just so everybody knows....cause i was a tad confused! - - - She didnt actually crash on the Gay 12....i was wondering - being as there arent really ANY corners on the Gay 12.......It happened on part of the old A12.....i cant remember what the roads called now, the one that wwaaayyy before the sarah crash bit would have had the army and navy....That road, Sarah came off on the sharp right that goesinto the roundabout, and the next roundabout goes to BP and Mc-donalds....It is quite a shaprp and speedy corner......i LOVE it, but have been cought out a few times by it!

I did say "younger riders" didn't I? Well maybe I meant less experienced. Don't really know now. All I meant was it would be good to think about to see if there is anything that we could collectively do to help reduce the chances of a member having an off.

I wasn't trying to preach, only see if someone could expand on my ideas on how to help.

Clear as mud? :grin2

With regard to the idea, of more experienced riders giving instruction/guidance to less experienced riders, I think this is REALLY DODGY ground, if people are to give instruction they need to be qualified and have insurance backup etc..............what if someone were to misinterpret instruction or guuidance given, then have an accident and try to claim compensation from the person who gave them the instruction, on the grounds that they did what that person told them??????????

I think it is good advice, to watch everyone elses riding, (because you can learn as much from others mistakes as you can instruction), if you have respect for someone elses riding, on an individual bassis you can ask advice etc.

Best advice is to remain analytical of both your own and others riding, this way you continually learn and hone your riding.

I have two other things to say on the subject:

1) its not just the inexperienced who have accidents..........Ricky is probably one of the most experienced riders on here and he has had an off recently.

2)As an instructor once told me...........motorcycles are by nature less stable than cars, and sometimes even cars end up on their sides or roofs! No matter how good a rider you are, at some point you are going to come off, and your pride and joy will end up on its side...........get used to, and accept this, the sooner you do the sooner you will relax and ride well.

Stay safe everyone

Sorry for not replying sooner. Yes Jon my bike is a D-reg, and we went and had a look at the corner in the car today, the grass on the side has two flat lines where me and the bike seperated, didnt realise it was sooooo long, reached mums ribs, we parked up in a lane and mum went to have a look, found lots of random car parts, a few pieces of my pink tassels (which she bought back) and...... My shoe!!!! yayy, its a bit soggy but it made me laugh when she came back with it.

Went to Broomfields today, another nicely spent 2.5 hrs, re-did my xrays. checked me over and plastered me up, full length plaster cast on my leg, then sent me to oldchurch, where the very busy doctor had a look at my xrays, and changed my appointment from next thurs to monday so they can have a look and decide mwhat they wanna do, they are talking about metal pins and plates and surgery now, which sucks soooo much! but will see how it goes.

Trout, how fast does that bike of urs go, coz i think u'd better start it up before this lot catch ya ;)
