to those who lovingly offered virtual tissues last nihgt, you will be pleased to know that the doggy has been found....

someone picked him up, took him home and rang the vet's this morning so i'm off to get him later.

he ran from our house in alresford to monkwick - colchester residents will know this is no walk round the block, and is particularly amazing given that greyhounds are amongst the laziest creatures on the planet - they can run fast but not far. how the f**k he ended up there we'll never know....

and the moral of the story is, when you move house make sure you change the number on your doggy's tag too. he's chipped, and has the vet number on his tag, but our old phone number doesnt exist any more so the person that found him waited til this morning to ring the vets.

i feel a bit silly noe but v v v v glad he has been found, just hope he's ok and not too panicky and that his poor paws are ok after all that running!!!

cheers guys your support was appreciated :clap :cuddle

more like a "you silly dog don't ever do that again........" :grin2

he's home safe and sound, sleeping off all the excitement. nothing more than a split pad on his foor.....unlike me and phil who are just about recovering from the shock

my sofa surfing hound made himslef right at home on the lady who picked him up's sofa!! i'm so embarrassed!! i rang her to say thanks and she was really nice and said......"he does like the sofa doesnt he" and i just cringed!!!

When our pouch would not give up on running off i found beating him with a huge bit of wood till he bleed from his eyes and ears would normally sort him out, till he died that is

Glad his home hun:clap

I'm really glad to hear he's back.

It's horrible when they go missing like that.

Now give him a stern talking to about how well off he is now and that he must NEVER do it again!

Good to hear there are kind souls who take care of lost pets as well

What i find helps with thier behaviour is pointing to the rspcas adverts and telling my dog "that will be you if you don't stop being a cnut"

Works a charm untill next time :grin2

it was quite sweet because the lady who took him in had had her jack russell put down 3 weeks ago, and she wasn't sure she was ready for another dog, but he has helped her decide that she is so she's off to get a rescue dog soon :clap

he must have been on his very best behaviour!!!

ours was "Double Bubble" :clap ........now Bubble for short

and yes they are incredibly lazy, they can run like the wind but not for long and then they need a week's serious sleeping to recover!

(my other half has decided he is coming back as a retired greyhound in his next life)

Dont, my Max (Jack Russel) is gonna break my heart one year soon. He is 12 now but still full of beans, bloody maniac!

the lady who took bubble in, hers was 16 when he finally went to doggy heaven. so you've got a while to prepare yourself i reckon. but it's so sad when they go, we were distraught when we thought he'd gone forever.

I've worked in a couple of greyhound kennels, when i was at school i worked in one in Noak Hill, used to walk the dogs over a golf course, and i still remember the one female who would NOT chase anything! The others would go mental and drag me along when a rabbit ran, but she would just walk along so calmly. Bless her, then when i was in Kent nr Brands (as in walking distance) they had a litter of puppies, OMG so cute, It broke my heart to quit the job and leave those puppies there.

Our Tay (GSD) is getting on a bit now, we rescued her 5 yrs ago and she was around 6-8 they think when we got her, i cant even think about losing her, it'll rip my world apart.
