I took my CBT last week and have to share this with you all, I took it over at Waterside farm in Canvey, spent the morning doing figure 8,s etc round the car park with instructor and another guy who was in the process of starting his direct acess.
Had a chat with the instructor Les and he told us both with great pride how he had never had an accident or lost anybody on the road when he was teaching
As soon as we left the carpark we turned left and aproached the canvey roundabout, Les turned left and told us to do the same, I was following close behind and the other guy behind me, Les had the gap and off he went onto the roundabout, but I had seen a silver mondeo coming round the inside and new he was about to cut across, so I slowed down and came to a stop behind the line, anyway the guy behind (who had been driving a car for 30yrs) was too busy looking right to see this...
BANG!
I was still standing and looked to my right to see the poor guy, and his bike in a heap next to me! he was absolutley fine, not a scratch and After pulling him up and getting the bike out of the road I couldnt help but pmsl!
Anyway the day carried on and I managed to lose them both at traffic lights in Canvey and spent 20mins sightseeing and finding out what riding was really like on my own! I loved every minute of it!
After finally finding them again we were taken back to the centre and both passed (I think they must pass anybody these days!)
Hats off to Les from Benleet motorcycles, how he kept it toghether I do not know! reckon he poured imself a few brandys when we left!
Thought for a second that my riding life was Doomed but looking forward to getting out on road soon and good luck to above mentioned with the direct access test!!
