....got an OLD race can theyre about to throw out...the reason i ask is i want to get one for me R1 but i want it shorter than standard so im gonna buy a decent can off ebay and cut it down myself. i want to practice on an old one first to make sure the rivets on the end cap drill out easy enough and the can itself will cut without splintering too much. I've helped out with one before but never attempted it on my own!

Speak to Jules nicely and she has an old Micron one that needs recording because all the packing and core has collapsed (rusted), its the carbon type Micron one that used to be on her road bike and is sat doing nothing.

How much does it cost for the coring kits?????

not sure about the coring kits...ive only ever seen rolls of baffle accidently when ive been searching through sites!!!

by doing it to a newer can the core and baffle will be sound as a poun...im not gonna re-pack it, the two reasons im cutting it down s (1) i want a shorter can (2) i want it a bit louder and to "grumble" a bit more...im only going to be shortening it by about 6-8 inches

If thats the case i am sure seeing as she hasnt got any plans for the micron can that she wont mind you cutting it up to practice on :)

just PM'd her mate. if i can find some baffling though and the end cap comes off okay and cuts down nicely i'll gladly re pack it and she can have it back!!....but for now we'll just say its going to go to race can heaven just to be on the safe side!

She has pm'd you back! :D

No worries at all :)

I'm pretty sure it just the end near the exit port where the packing stuff has deteriorated... probably just where the water's got in and the rust has set in... :) The outside is fine (I think!?).

I think, from memory the end cap is pop riveted on... don't quote me on that though. I spose you can see for yourself on Wednesday :D

We'll consider it donoured :D

I cut mine today as it got scratched at lydden, was very easy m8 rivets drill out no probs just use the right size drill bit to take the head off them.I used a hack saw to cut mine as holding it and cutting with the jigsaw was hard work on my own.:clap

i cut and cranked some 4mm ali to make the holder as well :p

Sounds the nuts.
