Just a quickie, those of you that do have trackbikes; do you have any kind of storage insurance or anything on them?

Or isn't it worth it?

And, if you do.. does it count towards NCB or not? I assume - not.

Cheers,

Sam.

Mine is on a daytime MOT so I have standard insurance for it. Not sure about insuring a bike to just stand in a garage though. Call and ask I suppose.

I am led to believe you can get theft only policies, but there may be a clause that it has to be a road going vehicle???

So do you just anchor your bikes up? I don't think i'll have a daylight MOT so don't NEED any insurance, just wondered if it's worth having it?

Depends on what the toe-rag situation round your way is i suppose :D

If its not going back on the road and its just a case of theft insurance, then i would just stick as many chains on it as possible to make people work harder to nick it, if it wasnt going to be used for a while i would probably take the battery of it too amongst other things (unless its alarmed of course).

Failing that if in doubt with outs (although there are four of the sods locked together, we block them in totally with the cars so you couldnt get any of them out :)

You could always look into hiring a local lock up garage, not always that expensive. I used to put a car a built in one, gives peace of mind.

there was a fella who used to drink in the pub who used to store one of his classic triumph's in one of those big yellow units!!!

check with them, but im sure some of the bigger ones have outside storage units especially for vehicles (http://www.bigyellow.co.uk)

people with expensive trackbikes often take out thief only insurance
(there lots of causes in the policies though i seem to remember being told)

depends if you think your at risk..? and if you can afford to lose out if the trackbike does get stolen...

but my view of trackbikes.. is they are a bike you can afford to crash.. so by that logic i wouldn't and didn't insure my trackbike
