Gutted! Just heard it on the news this morning! Said to be still Critical but I am not sure if that means he has got worse or its just old news.

He is one lucky bloke to have survived the actual crash doing over 300mph or so we are told. I really do hope he makes a full recovery! He is such a top bloke! Hamster, o Hamster! :(
Why are the police investigating? it's obvious what happened, he crashed a jet powered dragster! end of, no?

Well, I just read the details in the paper (The Times - works copy!) and it seems he was doing around 280mph at the time of the crash. They're not sure if it was a strong gust of wind, driver or mechanical error that caused it to dart off the runway on to the grass, flip and bury itself in the ground with Hammond stuck inside in a helmet and fireproof suit.
The BBC and the police are investigating it because they are trying to determine whether or not all parties concerned applied the duty of care rules for his safety and carried out correct risk assessments, and training for him prior to doing the run. They're looking at the BBC, the owners who let the runway to the BBC, the owners of the car and allsorts. They said if the BBC are found to have been negligent, it could give rise to an unlimited fine.
It says the hospital are concerned about his 'serious brain injury' but are cautious not to comment further.
Bless the Hamster - recover well Hamster!

I dont see how the investigation is helping the situation at this point in time tho!(my opinion) They just want someone to blame! I really hope hamster has no brain damage!

You have to have an investigation regardless, better to get it started and over and done with whilst its still fresh, you might say its not helping the situation but in all fairness the investigation has to be done and has nothing to do with him recovering in hospital, ;)

i heard that when he regained conciousness at the scene, he was telling the paramedics that his lower back was painfull. Thats a good sign that he hasnt got serious brain damage

If that is true then that is more than a good sign. Post op patients arent allowed out of bed for the bog, so if he has done it then it is amazing news.

I remember telling some bloke to **** off moving my wrist after my accident "It's fine, I can move it, I just don't want to cuz it'll hurt!!"
Broken in two places :D
Hammond's up and walking around apparently. And the fact clarkson called him a "crap driver" made the front page of the sun. Must have been a slow news day.
