Would these have any benifit to my bike (if I get it) and what are they worth.
(If I get it :( it will be a 2005 (October) RSV'R')

They arent bad cans, i am not too sure on the RSV Titanium ones whether or not they have "Not for road use" stamped on them, they sound nice enough but arent quite as light as Akrapovics etc.
They will fit any bike from 04 onwards,
Did I see in one of the pictures of your bike that you had Scorpions fitted?

Nah, i have the Akrapovics from Aprilia, my last bike had Mark Hill Shotguns :)
The Titaniums are a good can, they were designed as a race can by Aprilia so should work well enough as there is no catalytic convertors in them :)

More low down grunt, and a tad taller, i do prefer the styling of the older one too :)
But the noise of the shotgun cans were awesome :)

they were like sex on a motorbike, whilste being paid 9999992411298549015 million to do it!
I did look long and hard at the older model, at first I just wasn't sure about the styling but then it grows on you. After a while I really came to like it. But, in the end I found the new shape had more advantages (for me that is) Modern styling, lower seat (only important if your a short arse like me) but the main point was the warranty I wanted a bike this time round that was still covered by the manufactures warranty.
So thats what I've got a 55 Plate 2005, Black RSV'R' with 5,000 miles, carbon mudguard and hugger with a datatool alarm. It needs a bit of TLC. But that fine by me considering what I paid for it ;)
I went out for a little run on it and it's fan bloody tastic :grin2
There is one small problem, :( which I think I know the cause.
But I'll run it by you to confirm my suspicions, when you are in traffic or at traffic lights etc and you go to pull away and the bike stalls. Also if you coast to a stop she also stalls.
Cheers
Dal
PS: do you all name you bikes? (Maybe it's just me, sad bas*ard)

it sounds like the throttles just need synchronising to me ;)
Look like i'll have to give Southern Cross a call :reading
While I have your attention:
I was reading a thread earlier (erm in another forum) and they were talking about coreing standard pipes Do you know anyone who does this? If so how much etc.
I know there will be liitle advantage in terms of weight, but I actually like the look of the standard pipes. Saying this I would not do it to my exisiting pipes and would look to get an additional set. So if this price for this gets to close to that of a set of Akrapovics I probably would not bother.
Finally what do you know about Telco Exhausts?
Cheers

Southern Cross are the best in the business and i am sure you will get looked after if you mention that Mick or Dave (who watch New Era) recommended you ;)
As far as the cored cans go, they are fast becoming quite popular, although i have thought about it, i havent found anywhere that will do it, and had heard it costs around £200.
The process seems simple enough but dont forget that there are catalytic convertors in the link pipe part of the can and apparently its a bit of a job getting it all out, most that have done it recore to either 50mm diameter or 60mm to give a really deep booming tone ;)
I would assume that a set of cans could be picked up for around £150 at most and then around £150-£200 to recore them, which would still make them cheaper than Akrapovics too.
I dont know of anyone using Telco exhausts but i do know of them, the price of their cans does seem a tad on the low side and that may be a result of the quality of them, but i wouldnt like to say ;)

Not at all, Don Plane one of the owners races an 04 Factory and is currently leading the New Era Sound of Thunder championship, he has already won the club level one with 2 rounds to go, but has 1 round remaining at Superclub level (which is the one he wants to win).
Me and Milleuks normally go up to watch him race (and blow his engine up! :D ) and end up being his pit bitches :D
Sounds like a fun day out :laugh1
Your have to let me know when and where and maybe I can tag along (seeing as I'm now Billy no mates now I've switched to an Italian Twin:grin2 )
Any excuse to get out on the bike ;)

I went over to Southern Cross today, to have the bike set to MAP 2. Andy who did it said this will go real smooth or be a right pig. After discovering that the bike was running with a really old MAP which should have been changed ages ago. I knew it was gonna be a pig. Anyway Andy said "did I want to hang around as to set the CO correctly it had to be done cold". After about 2 hours it was cold enough to set up. It was then put on the Dyno and adjusted correctly (took about 30 minutes) after taking the bike to the main workshop, Don came over and we started talking and I said that Mick (Lateshift) suggested I go to them. He then started to look around the bike and picked the back end up and commented about the amount of SAG the suspension had. So back to Andy to adjust it and between them they set up the rear suspension (took 30mm out of it) and the front. So I guess in all I was there about 3 hours. And the charge for there knowledge, expertise and workshop time £25.00.
:jumping2
A great bunch of people who I could not recommend highly enough.
Just as a side the local Aprilia Dealer (you know who they are) said they could not look at the bike for a week and the charge would be £125.00. This was after telling me that if my bike ever required any warranty work they would NOT do it as I never bought the bike from them.

Dal there a great bunch down there at southern cross wont take mine anywhere else after mick told me about them , mine needed its 9000 mile service quotes locally were in the region of £450 , needless to say don charged me a lot less and done a lot more and when they found the couldnt complete in the day lent me a bike to get home on and dropped some money of the bill for the hassel
I certainly wont be using anyone else now! ;)
The basic service stuff I'll still do myself (gives me something to do) :laugh1
Don was telling me about Cadwell Park and the issue of the mysterious cutting out at 10,000rpm. Bugger that if it took him two days to diagnose imagine how long it would take us mortals :o :)
Lateshift
12-10-2006, 08:46 PM
Told you so ;)
Ah but did Don tell you that for all the stripping of the bike to find what was cutting his engine at top end, it was actually Dave (Milleuks) that suggested the kill switch?? ;)
What was good to see though (despite him not winning the championship) was that he was running on a standard 04 bike with nothing extra other than an air filter and slip on cans and the bike was still keeping up with higher tuned bikes, and even outrunning a bike that was bought over from the AMA albeit slightly detuned to 155 ponies at the wheel
I am off to Brands on Sunday to watch him race in the Club championships (which he has already won) :)

so a yes to that one :)

I have no problems with that, the only thing dependant is the weather :)

I agree it costs me a fortune in polish everytime I take the bike out in crap weather. :laugh1
Looks like the weather is going to be good tommorow :jumping2
However, if you guys would preffer to go on your own I have no problems with that. Just let me know so I can make other arrangements :reading .

Entirely up to you Dal, me and Milleuks are going and i think Bigbikefan is joining us too, given that i intend being down there for qualifying at 10.00, i reckon on leaving the BP garage at Boreham at around 9.15 but it could be slightly earlier yet.
As i said you are more than welcome, its certainly not an exclusive gathering :D
The timings are fine by me. Just tell me what time to be at Boreham and i'll be there ;)

So at least once the races are done there is no hanging about :D

Aye twas a good day, some good racing, only bad part was the ride there and back in that wind :D
Can't beat a bit of club racing for a cheap day out :)
I assume yesterday was the season finale.:( So we have to wait until what March for the start of the 2007 season?
Is Don doing the same series next year?
Lateshift
16-10-2006, 09:52 AM
Well Don had already won the Club championships before yesterday so only went because he had already paid for the entrance fee etc, there is one round left at Mallory which is next weekend i think but he wont be going as its a really long way for a 1 day race meet (when you dont need to race in it).
At the moment he is undecided if he will race next year but i reckon he will anyway, the plan is to rebuild his race bike to 180bhp and probably have a spare bike this time, although as you can see yesterday, you can stay in touch with average riders running on tuned bikes even on a standard bike if your a more experienced racer :)

I think Don is one of the die hards anyway, i personnally cant see him wanting to leave the race scene, its as much about the atmosphere as the racing from what i can see :)

Don really seems to injoy it just for the racing as you say he might find theres a big hole in his life once its gone , reckon its just the thought of having to rebuild the race bike once its done and he is back out on it he will be fall steam head for next season
