I've had my licence a year and my first bike was a cbr 600f which im still riding at the moment.
going to px it very soon but cant decide what bike to go for next, its between yamaha and suzuki and would like to go for a gixer k6 0r 2006 r1 ideally but dont know if this would be too much of a power jump or not?
or would a gixer 750 be a wiser choice and maybe upgrade to a 1000 in another year or so? i need advice please!!!!
p.s how comes suzuki haven't gone for the underseat style exhaust like the other manufactures? must be a reason surely? any advice is good!

i would say a sensible choice would be the Gixxer 750 but i would go for the R1.
I know its not the same but my R6 was restricted to 33Bhp, then stolen. when i got it back my restriction was up. From not riding for 3 months and being only 33BHP i jumped straight on the R6 dee-restricted and climatised straight away.
So i say go for what you want. You'll get used to it eventually

No probs, at the end of the day no matter what we say your the one who will be riding it. And you'll most prob pick it up after a nice long blast or few blasts

I was lookin at upgradin to a thousand but to be honest i'm quite happy with the 750.
Use it everyday for work. Easy to ride, comfy and never had any problems..
Plenty of power for what the average rider needs. At the end of the day, top speed is about 170... do you really need that anyway..??
to be honest only you know if you are ready for a thousand cc bike... and after only a year i'd say you've still alot to learn about bike control and road craft
only you'll know if you've got the throttle control not to highside on the exit of the first bend..?
what are the reasons for wanting to upgrade..? what does you current class of bike not do...? a 1000cc bike really isn't any quicker in the twisties

the main reason i want to upgrade is because i got the cbr as it was recommended to me as a good user friendly bike to start with, i,ve always preferred the looks of the yamaha's and suzuki's and just wanted to get some opinions of other riders before i make my choice, think i may go for the gixxer 750 and work up to a 1000 in another couple of years. insurance will be a bit cheaper too! the power of my bike is fine it's mainly the looks really, and the 1000's have that nice fat tire to go with the looks.

Which means slower steering unless you are a racing god and bigger chicken strips too ;) :D
Oh and the extra cost of the tyre ;)

After watching a Triumph 675 go round Cadwell this weekend against the big 1000 V Twins, i think i will be looking for one of them myself next :D
The bike was flying!
It seemed to be the ultimate package and decimated all of the standard V Twins (and quite a few of the tuned ones too for that matter :D ).
I was gob smacked at how small and compact it was too, it looks far smaller than any of the other bikes in comparison but shifted like it was a big litre bike :)

I'd not seen one before at all and having seen a few different older triumph models, didn't think I'd like them, but confirmed! They look really stunning and go like you wouldn't beleive! :D
SHIFTY - PUT A PIC UP FOR US :D :D

I only got one picture of it and that was in the last Sound of Thunder race :)
(where it finished second!)
The KTM Superduke that its chasing is an animal of a bike and in qualifying that morning managed to stay ahead of the Pro bikes for 3 laps before he decided to come back in (knowing he had done more than enough).
The KTM won the Sound of Thunder series in the end (the rider is an Ex MRO 600 champion) but the Triumph beat him into second place in the last race of the series (it could be said that the KTM having done enough didnt push it but trust me he had been fighting this Triumph off for a while).
The only place the Triumph lost out was right at top end, everywhere else it was able to outdrag nearly all of the other bikes in the race.

Triple cylinder engines, the torque of the V Twins and the smoothness of the Inline 4's, it sounds awesome (much bigger than it really is) and handles like the 600's normally do :)
