View Full Version : Do CBT's carry forward?
Went down to local CBT centre today but it's shut on Mondays :( Bloody long walk as well.
Was just wondering, if you do your CBT when you're 16 and presumably do it on a 50cc does it carry forward to when you're 17 to let you ride a 125cc?
Merci :)

It is still valid so dont worry, the DL196 covers 16 yr olds who on reaching age 17 want to progress to 125cc bikes, there is no requirement for you to take the CBT again until it expires at its 2 year point :)
There is nothing to say that wont change in the future though because the rumour mill did suggest that the Government were thinking of a 2 day CBT which you had to pass rather than just attend ;)
Ah ok :) Thanks then, I might leave it till I'm 17 just as it'll make funding it easier. But I would like to get it out of the way and have it paid for.

You should get it done anyway, if the rumour mill is correct it could get a lot tougher than it is at the moment and involve more than just a run around on a bike, very likely to involve accident avoidance etc.
And lets face it, with the amount of years you have been riding it will probably be cheaper on the insurance for you and you would likely walk it ;)
why dont you just book a test on the 125 and get the restricted licence (which means use you own bike) and then lose the restriction in 2 years time as of right :)
