Hey guys, I'm in the process of gettin the power valve set up, it seems to be mostly trail and error. The reason I had to mess about with it in the first place was because the cables rusted and restricted the servo. SO anyway I changed those but the cables that they gave me were longer than the ones I took off, obviously not ideal but I got them on. Would the fact that the cables are longer make a difference? Cheers people. :?:
Shouldn't do. As long as the cable still pulls the same anmount it should open and close the Valve the same. If you know what i mean?

Hmmm I'll crack on and see how far I get. Good dam power valve is a pain in the arse.
hrm... it would make a difference if the cables wernt tight (not too tight mind... but you should have been able to see how tight the rusted ones were).
Take the pipe off and look up the exhaust port into the cylinder, and turn the ignition on. When the servo resets itself, the p/v should be in the fully closed position. You'll be able to hear/see if there is a problem.
Hope this helps.

Cheers people.
Dan, just a quicl question for you. I've had the exhaust off and set it so that when the ignition is on the P/V is fully open, is this the wrong way around? and should it be fully closed when the ignition is on?
Cheers mate,

nope. turn ignition on, whirr whirr whirr. turn ignition off. powervalve should now be in the OPEN position. it closes once the bike has started.

hmm see thats what I've done and the bike runs a bit better not not as good as it used to before the cables rusted up and were replaced. any ideas?
Have a look at the stickty about de-restricting. It might help you set the valve up correctly.

Take the left hand side inspection cover off ur ypvs pully housing turn the ignition on wait for duty cycle to end turn ignition off ..
The notch in the pully should perfectly align with a the small hole in the pully housing ..
If that dont work take off ur exhaust and check to see if when the pully is lined up as above the powervalve should be flush with the exhaust port ..
Also is ur power valve going clockwise then anticlockwise? or reverse? if its doing the oposite uve got the cables on the wrong way around ..
There are numbers on the both the ypvs servo and the pully housing the cables should go ..
ypvs servo 1 --- 2 pully housing
ypvs servo 2 --- 1 pully housing
Also dont over tighten the cables they should be tight but lose enough that u dont strain the servo motor and burn it out ..

sorry - the p/v should be fully open before you start the bike.

are you sure that 1 should go to 2??
i would imagine that they are numbered so that they cant be mixed up, therefore 1 would go to 1.
i'll have a look on the race bike tonight, and maybe on the roadbike just to confirm (if i can be bothered to strip the tank off..)
Is that not what he said?? :?

no. fubar said that 1 should go to 2, and 2 should go to 1, chisel stated that his go 1 to 1 and 2 to 2 so will be the first place that he starts.
but i can see why yamaha would number them oddly. if they are going to be numbered so they cant get mixed up, then it would make sense for them to go
1>>>1
2>>>2
instead of
1>>>2
2>>>1
as previously suggested by fubar.
Ah I C now.
It does go from 1 to 1 and 2 to 2 i did mine not so long ago.

I haven't had the chance to have a look yet but as far as I can remember the Servo isn't numbered.
One other thing that I forgot to mention is that the cables are 2 different lenghts, any ideas which one goes where?
Cheers
