Hello.

I have been looking through the members list and come across users that registered over a year ago and still haven't posted. Also there are lots of users that are just numbers. I suspect Spam bots or such like.

What are your opinions on the forum having soo many inactive ie. NO posts ever on the forum.

Should they be deleted? Sent an E-mail to verify they are active or just leave them?

I know they make the forum look bigger as the contribute to the members list but isn't this a false picture to paint?

There is a thread on here somewhere that Mick made that lists all the spam registrations. It was made so that when Dan got a minute, he could delete them.

Its around somewhere.

I do think that if they are confirmed bots, that they should be deleted :)

I guess there are some geniune members registered that don't actually post, which doesn't do any harm. I suppose you would have to check their last activity and if it was years ago - get rid of em :)

Like you say, so many members being either spam bots or just one-offs doesn't give a very good indication of how many poeple belong to the site :)

There were 100's of Bots a few weeks ago but they have all gone. These are really old ones that I have noticed..

I think we should rid of people that join and have been members more than 6 months without a single post or a member of the rideouts section.

I can understand people becoming members and joining the sectoin just so they can browse and not say anything.

It would take a lot of time to hand pick out who should recieve the E-mail.

the other option would be to E-mail everyone... but then people who are away from home or do not have access to a PC for a while could slip through the net and end up being deleted.

you would need to have a time period for them to reply I guess. But how long?

What i do on mine is, delete all bots. As most of the people that dont post are bots or those that like others have said come on and read but dont post.

All those with fake, or free email addys then delete (when i say free ...@freemail.com as they tend to be bots)

And also send out emails to those your not sure about, then they can proove themselves if they want.

Thats my 2 pence
