i rekon he should have gone through a 125 first as the power ncrease from a 50 to a 400 is huge! supprised he hasnt killed himself! but mind you i went from a 50cc moped to a 250cc jap import DR , then got caught lol , now on my 125 TZR, taking me test within the next week or 2 and then hopefully ill be on my TZR250 which i gotta admit is NIPPY! and personally i dont like aprillia's mainly cause i could never afford 1 lol! so i will curse them forever!
I went from a speedfight 100 wrc to this CBR400RR, it's got a micron system as well. But i use it for work each day, as well as weekend's.
It don't matter what you have drove on road, just as long as you can drive what ever u really wanna buy, and u have got a licence for it.(most people dont worry bout 33bhp though). I did'nt just have a ped though, used to do motocross every weekend on a yz250.

yeah exactly you had the experiance and with the 33bhp restrictor im only getting it for the certificate! i aint fitting it!"
Hrmmm... in my opinion, I think a 125 is ideal for a first bike. The next step has to be a 400, then a 600.
So many people dont agree with me when i say that, but I think its ridiculous when people jump from a 125 to a 600. It doesnt matter how long youve owned a 125, its a completley different ride - with too much power for someone who has no experience to handle it.
As for 50cc owners... i dont know. I suppose if you were sensible, youd go from a 50 to a 125 - then a 400 then possibly a 600... but thats like 4 bikes. At the end of the day, 50 to a 400 isnt as bad as 50 or 125 to a 600.. which is what most loons do. Plus if you restrict a 400 to 33bhp then thats only the same sort of power as what you would get out of say a prilly RS125.
No doubt i'm going to get into an argument over this again lol
Dan.
LOL. So I must be crazy then! I jumped from a TS50ER to a CBR600 race bike!
thats different - that is on a track. Whats the number 1 danger on the road to riders? CARS!
Inexperience causes mistakes and if cars are about when you make those mistakes, the consiquences can be fatal. Check out the A12 by the new PC world in Romford... 2 deaths in the past few months, both riders...
On a track, inexperience means you hit the deck, and the consiquences are mearly financial.
Im sticking to my guns :2gunfire: - you should NOT be able to jump from a 50 or 125cc bike to a 600cc+ machine for use on the road.
I agree to what your saying Dan. There is no argument there. But i might jump to a 400 or 600 after my TZR but i am used to the power and it will be restricted for a few years!

i agree as well and yeah the PC world bit to the A12 is dangerous! but then again gallows corner is suicidel lol coincidental name though i might add lol! and the flyover wernt that like suposed to be a temp mesure?

do i go straigt to a 400 after i am 17 or go to a 125 instead
thats a hard one...
I think 125's are fun, and a great foundation for learning to ride... but a restricted 400 (to 33bhp) would give you less grief....
If you like tinkering with engines, and want to feel more involved with the way your bike runs/works, get the 125 - an RS, TZRR, NSR etc. If you just want to ride the bike and not worry about fiddling with it, get a 400 - but make sure its restricted to 33BHP.
I had a RS125 at heart for year's, but i knew it would not be reliable enougth as a commuter. That's why i went for the 400, honestly, i think their is as much danger in the rs125, as their is in any 400. Come on, the rs is just a street legal gp bike, that's why the insurance is as dear as any 400 (trust i got load's of quote's).
At the end of the day, it's how you ride the thing, i knew the boy who died near pc world, ginger bradley, he used to come round to my mate's with all nicked bike's for sale, and he drove with out a care in the world, short's & t-shirt 100mph+etc
yea their element of power/inexperiance that does come into it, but i don't think that's a big deal between the rs and 400, it's when u start messing about with 600+ that drop of a gear, or blip of the throttle really count's.
My thoughts exactly - when you are on a track, those mistakes of inexperience are harldy ever as consiquental (is that a word?? lol) - on the road.. well you get my point.
The laws in this country shouldnt allow inexperienced riders on bikes over 33bhp.

I love the aprilia's too... i had an Rs50 in red and black, the only colurs for an Rs i think, and that was amazingly fast for a 50. And i got an Rs125sp just chillin in the garage! LOVE EM!
