Well if i was you i would check the history and the documentation is correct then, the Ebay tool is in no way fault free but its designed to be linked in to a HPI tool so i imagine its fairly accurate on most occasions ;)

If its reporting it as an Austin Morris when its quite clearly a British Leyland Sherpa Highwayman then it might be worth covering your bases in case you get pulled for being Basildons latest car scammer :D

Spoke to my dad and apparently they are the same thing... Ebay is accurate. Austin Morris and Leyland Sherpa are the same thing.

The problem with that is that Austin-Morris was the original founding company that was bought out by Leyland Motors (which then became British Leyland Motor company in 1968 it then went on to become British Leyland in 75).

However the only thing that is relevant here is that in 1978 the Sherpa (which had already been seen on the road) got given a Morris badge stuck on it :D, it was still to be known as a Leyland Sherpa and eventually went on to be replaced by the Leyland Daf LDV.

So whilst the Ebay HPI thing might be accurate in its description i am betting its not the same as the V5.

Going slightly further if you had left out the HPI part of it so you could call it what you wanted, you would have probably got more advertisement by calling it a Leyland Sherpa Highwayman or Motorhome, because i could pretty much guarantee that most people associate it as a Sherpa too ;)

To the average person if you mentioned Austin Morris (being the manufacturer and not the model) most people would think of the Maxi, Allegro, Marina, Minor blah blah, Leyland were responsible for the Light Commercial Division ;)

Lastly just so i am not making it all up :D

John Barber did create something of a hitch in the marketing of the new van at launch time he overruled the name Sherpa, insisting that the new van should be given the extremely cumbersome title of: "The new Leyland Van from Austin Morris". After six months of general trade and customer confusion, the Sherpa name was re-instated, and it never looked back.
