Forgot to add, questioned the delivery guy about it and he said that all i needed to do was fix it and then i can ride it again (with insurance).
He reckons and i really doubt he knows what hes talking about, that i dont need to MOT it again nor get it inspected as i have an mot on the bike...
Yes mate, thats true but the mot was on the bike BEFORE i crashed it!:laugh1 :shooter
Anybody able to shed some light on the correct method of getting the bike back on the road.

As far as i know your insurance company will have written the bike off and informed the DVLA, in which case you very likley need to have it inspected this isnt for the MOT though, this is for it allowed to be used again for road use. I am sure that if they stamp it up as okay then the MOT is still valid although i am not 100% on that.
Again it may well be that as a CatD write-off it doesnt need it.
But worth checking anyway.
A. A vehicle which should be totally crushed, including all its spare parts.
B. A vehicle from which spare parts may be salvaged, but the bodyshell should be crushed and the car should never return to the road.
C. An extensively damaged vehicle which the insurer has decided not to repair, but which could potentially be repaired to a high standard.
D. A damaged vehicle that the insurer has decided not to repair, but which could be repaired and returned to the road.
F. A vehicle damaged by fire, which the insurer has decided not to repair.
The vehicle has been accidentally damaged or written off - How to obtain a vehicle identity check (VIC)
You will need to take it to a Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) test station to undergo a VIC. Before taking your car to be checked, you will also need to pay a fee. On receipt of the fee VOSA will book an appointment for you and tell you where and when you should take your car to be checked. You will also need to give certain information about your car to VOSA before the check takes place. This will allow them to confirm that the information you have given matches with their records. If your vehicle passes the VIC, DVLA will store the result on computer. You can apply to DVLA for the registration certificate (V5C), which will be issued and will contain the following message - 'Accident damaged and/or substantially repaired; identity checked on dd/mm/yy'. All subsequent V5Cs will carry this message. Further information on the VIC can be found on the link below.

.....Thats what he said, like al old CG's thy all have that sort of damage it is par for the course!
I can't see anything that won't straighten in about 10 mins. Cracked indicator lens is the worst thing.

If you still have a valid MOT certificate then you dont need to get it redone.
An MOT is to prove the vehicle is checked yearly to ensure the bike is roadworthy.........as soon as you leave that garage the MOT itself is null and void.its just the bit of paper you need. :grin2
Right.. so lateshift says i need to get a inspection... and guvnor says i dont??
And in the blue corner...:grin1 :boxing
The bikes a category 'C' Write off if that helps..
i think i better ask my insurer or fourth dimension.:grin2

Sorry.....missed the right off bit !!!!:reading personal note...read the hole thread
In that case it does need an inspection and it needs to be re-registered when done (on the same plate or a Q depending on work carried out).
Latey is spot on....................AGAIN !!!!:grin2

Tooey..... No no no i dont say that, i quoted that from the DVLA website, i have never had to put a knackered bike back on the road fortunately nor would i probably bother :D
And i did also say that it could be wrong, however if the DVLA have been informed by the insurer that the vehicle/bike has been written off due to uneconomical repair then the DVLA still need to be notified or how else are you going to get it taxed when its due, and more importantly it needs to be re-registered for the road so you can get insurance again on it ;)

By the way...........still needs it if it is a catD :laugh2
Well the fixing part of it looks simple enough latey, its just re-registering it and everything... i mean i suppose i could break the bike down as spares and sell it in parts rather than the whole thing, but its just doing it, im not sure if i could, as the bike runs fine, just needs a little bit of work to get it roadworthy again!:grin2

so take your time and put some elbow grease into it when you get a chance, re-register it and sell it on for more than its currently worth ;)

Looks like an easy repair job, just bendin most things back... pick up a cheap head light and some indicator lenses and ya laughin... then its just the paper work..
Could be a little money maker....
Well, thats what i'd do anyway...
