I have seen the MV Agusta F4, l think it is amazing but would you pay the asking price?
Power is on par with the YZF R1,
Performance is just short of the GSX1000R.
Ridability not quite CBR1000RR standard
Kit (Marchesini wheels, Sach Shocks etc) 2nd to none
Price (You can buy 2 GSX1000R for the price of one F4) stupendious!
So who buys these MV Agusta's?

the same reason you'd buy a rolex, when a casio will do!

I am not sure you can equate a GSX1000R OR Fireblade or YZF R1 or even an ZX10R to a casio watch. You would be greatly underestimating these bikes because of their competitive prices. Japanese bikes have come a long way, so l would be reluctant to dis them.

In terms of status and bling it is admittedly more like buy a Skyline or a Ferrari though ;)
Both rapid bits of kit that stick to a road like warm baby poo to a wool blanket, but one that you see everyday and sort of drifts into oblivion and one that has you talking and letting out sex wee at the same time! :D

Alot of it is down to exclusivity. Count how many gixxer, R1s etc you see over the weekend and compare it to how many MVs you see. They are something special because they are very good bikes made in small numbers.

That could also be that whilst being very good bikes, they break down a lot, with not a lot of them being about means they dont have many to fix?? :D :D
ahem Benelli and Bimota :D

I think that is because they are pricey hence bike thieves love em. Not if you want em as collectors item (in which case it will stay in nthe garage for ever), you would not risk parking em on the street for a brief moment, coz everything on it is desirable top gear. From Orlins dampers (steering and suspension), marchesini wheels, sach forks, just bto name a few.
So yes they are exclusive to garage bikers

I am not sure you can say a Honda Fireblade of a Yamaha YZF R1 have a poor break down record. I own a 2005 R1 so l know that it is of the finest build quality. Certainly no more so than the MV Agusta or Ducati. I happen to have a m8 who owns a 2004 MV Agusta, hence l know of their build quality well.
It is about something else l suppose.

Mate of mine had a F4S - Lovely bike until he binned it at Snett on a trackday.....
I agree with Doodle it is about exclusivity, it's that being your own man and not running with the pack sort of thing. ;)
Why do any of us (me included) buy 1000cc bike's, when on a public road a 600 is more than enough.
As far as the price is concerned is it really that expensive? I don't think so, cast your minds back to 1992 and very well known Japanesse manufacturer launched the NR750 @ an astonishing £38,000  only 200 of these bikes were ever built.
