Hi, Dad's decided he wants a bike seeing as I've pretty much got his bandit. He's decided he quites like the idea of having a ducati monster for the summer after finding out they can had be quite cheaply.

Anyway, cut to the point, found this on ebay:

According to the ad it's a cat C, however from the damage listed:
HAS SLIDE DAMAGE ( BROKEN FOOT-PEG , DENT TO TANK )

Cat C seems a bit over the top, I thought that CAT C was fairly serious and cat D was more aesthetics (not sure if thats the right word :S). Anyway you lot obviously won't be able to tell me any specifics re the bike, but wondered if you had any ideas with to it being cat C rather than D, or any personal expiriences of buying write offs to put back on the road?
Cheers
Alex

Category C - Repairable. Possibly structural damage. Cost of damage (at main dealer prices and labour rates) is more than book value of bike.

It's not all about how serious the damage is, its probably more down to at the dealer price of parts and labour as explained breifly above its not cost effective for the insurance company. Looks like a nice bike for what you can see. Look at those poor 748 aswell.

The main put off I can see is the 44k miles linked with the fact it'll have no service history so who knows when it last had a big service with I think its Belts? (or whatever it is that Ducatis have in the big services :S)

Exactly my thoughts, never mind the damage, I would want to see new belts and service on that mileage duke!
