I have owned my VTR1000 for about 6 months now and i love it, its the first v-twin i have owned and i would say it is a user friendly bike i would recommend any one to buy one, i have done little modifications like shortening the exhausts which made it alot louder. Love it!

I have to admit as a commuter they look like a cracking bike, although having spoken to Doodlebug about it, it seems that they arent too good on the petrol side of life (which sorts of defeats the object seeing as thats what they were built for really).

When i rode Doodles i wasnt particularly impressed as it felt like a barge to me, however that was probably down to me being used to riding an Aprilia.

I think with a few mods on them they could be a cracking bike for screaming around on, a bit limited on the top end but who uses that these days??

Seriously though if you think as a V Twin that its a good bike, then you need to have a ride on its better and bigger brother the SP1 or the more refined SP2, then when you had a go on that, take out an animal like a TLS or TLR :D

I would include the Aprilia in that but in all honesty (and i say this with a sad face :D ) you have to ride it like a race bike to fully appreciate what its capable of, its just that most (me included) arent capable of fully enjoying what race twins are all about unless you take it on the track (and at the price i paid for mine its going nowhere near one :D ).

......it seems that they arent too good on the petrol side of life......

Maybe mine was not set up correctly for the twin Harpoons it had fitted, but it did use about 30% more petrol than even the TLR! Very Juicy. Not great in the wet either, front cylinder would get a damp plug and make it a nightmare occasionally.

I think its a common thing Karl, i havent come across anything that anyone has said about them being good on juice, most tend to say they are a bit disappointed at having had to fill up every 100 miles, and every 80 if they are ragging it :D

I expected a bit more from Honda when they brought it out as even my 99 RSV saw 199 miles on the commute that i was doing :D

Still if they are setup right they are a fun bike like anything else, what worried me was watching that video of Shakey Byrne trying to get his knee down on one and hearing it scraping as it decked out every time :D

that might have been Bob at parkys, he was saying they've jacked his suspension up a bit at the back and it's a bit tricky to get on and off the bike :grin2

but yes he is quite a big chap - total diamond though :cuddle
