Hi all,

I just thought I'd share this with you. Some of you maybe aware that I have been building a project bike during the winter, (more about this soon :grin2 ) and I needed to get some tyres transfered from one set of rims to my newly powder coated (If anyone needs any powder coating done let me know ;) ) ones. So I asked on here and came back with a couple of options, so I called a local one and he said the earliest he could do it would be Saturday (this was Tuesday by the way) and when I inquired to the price he said oh I dunno between £40.00 and £60.00  . Remember these are free wheels as in not fitted to a bike (not as in I'm giving them away ).

A little surprised I decided to chuck them in the car and drove to ATS @ Rayleigh, he said leave them there and I'll call you when there done. You make think why did he go there? Well when I was having the wheels powder coated I needed to get the old tyres removed quickly and all the bike shops said no sorry I can fit them but not remove them (coz there 160's or something) so I ended up at ATS and he removed them in seconds FOC.:clap

So with couple of hours to kill in Rayleigh I decided to pop into Vines as I am considering changing the RSV'R' for a ZX6R (old shape). I was advised that they had two bikes just arrived and still boxed 2006 models. (now bear in mind I looked at the ZX6 before I bought the Aprilia and they had a delivery mileage bike for £5500.00 back in October) so when I inquired to the possible deal the guy (John Vine) said it would cost me £2200.00 to change  . Now I'm no mathematician but based on what was previously offered (nearly 5 months ago). I asked what the breakdown was eg: how much is the new one and how much are you offering on the Aprilia he said that doesn't matter! (in an aggressive tone) it's the amount to change. With that I left the shop!

Back to the tyres saga, I get a call a couple of hours later the wheels are ready for collection. "Excellent how much do I owe you?" "Oh nothing don't worry about it"

How pleased was I :jumping2 :jumping2 :jumping2 :jumping2

I hate vines. he is as bad as Kelvin at Alphas. Unless you cough up a deposit as soon as you enter the shop then they ain't interested.

The only person I can think of who is more expensive nowadays is berwick. Just aswell I'm not in the habit of buying too many second hand bikes. The R1 I am fightering is the first second hand bike I have purchased in about 8 years.

As for the tyres, great result. I normally use market tyres in westcliff to change my tyres over and balance the wheels. I think stewart normally charges me something like £5 per rim. And they have the proper bike machines and use the plastic rim protectors.

As for tyres ......... I normally get a good deal from Woods by chalkwell park.
