For those that offered suggestions and advice when I recently posted about my bike problems - I just read this on BBC

(Quote)

" Bought petrol at Morrisons, Glenrothes 21/02 and next day car struggled to start and has been driving like it has dirty petrol in it. Loss of power, particularly when changing down gear at junctions. Car came to a complete halt tonight but eventually managed to restart and limp home in 1st gear (every time went to change gear car stuttered and cut out again). Have never had any problems with car before even though it is an older car and as I assumed it was dirty petrol I thought it would clear. Petrol never goes below a quarter tank so it was not dirt dredged u."

This pretty much describes exactly what happened to me. However - a lot of reports mention the dodgy fuel knackering oxygen sensors in newer cars.

Could this dodgy fuel affect a bike in this way??

For the record, my bike is still ufcked and sat in the drive collecting spiders.

honestly the only way is to drain the tank and carbs , then refill with a known good quality fuel then try again

The current fuel problems are thought to be a contaminent in the petrol knackering the Oxygen sensor, unless you have a catalytic converter and a sophisticated engine management system including fuel injection then you will not have the afformentioned Oxygen sensor and thus cannot have the same problem that a lot of people are currently expeiencing.

On that subject my car hickuped yesterday, 18 months old 30,000 miles on the clock and its never missed a beat.....until yesterday that is.....I was driving along when it suddenly lost all power, the engine management fault light came on, then it burst bck into life and seemed fine, my wife thought my foot had slipped off the throttle pedal, but it was deffo the car. It was OK the rest of the way home (15-20 miles), and I've been out and about in it today (60 miles or so) and it seemed fine.

i cant put esso fuel in my bike, if i do i get half a mile up rd and it runs like a bag of s**t and cuts out. I dont know why this is but it really doesn't like it but it loves the Shell fuel but the nearest one to me is white court at Notley:jumping2

Vopek admit they are at fault and Tesco have said they will pay for cars damaged by fuel.
