While l was riding through Camden on thursday, the wake of the bus in front of me waft up a plastic bag along with a plume of dust. Somehow the plastic bag found its way unto the sprocket and wound itself around the gap between the sprocket and the swingarm. I did'nt notice much during the ride, except that engine braking took on a new meaning for the duration of the ride.
Anyway, l gave the bike a wash today to discover a slightly melted and tightly knotted plastic bag round the left side of the swingarm. I am not sure if this sort of thing is dangerous, has anyone heard of a mishap to a bike due to a plastic bag? Is this something to really worry about?

If i had a mishap due to a plastic bag i dont think i would be telling anyone personnally :D
"i crashed because a deluxe Tesco bag jumped up at me" :D
nah it doesnt quite do it for me, now if it had Harrods on it i would tempted to mention it :D
However if it was to unfortunately sling its way up, wrap itself round my fizzer or get lodged onto the downpipes i might have something to worry about ;)

I worked with a young chap that claimed he came off his RGV250 due to a plastic bag in the road washing his front end out. I personally believe that it may have more to do with only passing his test six weeks previously and riding like a pillock (allegedly)

It is possible though. If you are half way round a corner and you pass over a plastic bag on the ground, that would be like riding over a patch of oil, especially if any dampness is present on the plastic bag. Don' you think?

a plastic bag took out one of the GB Moto riders at Brands a couple of years ago during the KRC endurance season. Broke his legs and a few other bits besides..... Ow. Litter is a danger on track too!
