cbr 400rr stupidly bought by me this year to take test on. Cant do test on bike but didnt do homework first. Recent tax an mot expired. Needs front inner tube. Lots of money spent on Genuine Honda parts, filters, bearings, fork seals, exhaust etc. Clean genuine bike.
Price: £********?

Well to tell the truth I don't really drink T I have hot choccies, but I don't really like the colour. If it was the same colour as the 600 was on your Avatar pic then it would b the b's knees.

why does it need an inner tube?? theyre supposed to run tubeless tyres, so theres £90 straight away, assuming the rim is ok.
why has it had the respray and the polished frame? oh, and the aftermarket bodywork? that engines awfully clean... why? no one takes an engine out of a bike unless the frames been bent or the engines been fooked up properly!
the more i look at it, the less it looks like a good bike...
and that exhaust... will it pass an mot, or do u need to spend another £140 on a road legal exhaust?
take a look, but take someone else with you cos you may only look at the niceties and not look out for the nasties (as we all do when looking at new toys!) that way, u can look at the nice and let him/her look for the not nice. ex race bike?? might explain the aftermarket fairings etc. usual things to check, sump plugs, rad caps etc. it could genuinely be a very good bike, but why would it be such a good bike and then they not bother mot'ing it before selling it?
my personal opinion: bargepole. there are plenty of other bikes out there.
Right. He is wanting £800 ONO. The reason it has run out of T&T is because he cant ride it at to pass his test on so hasn't bothered.
It might just be a very clean bike but i understand where you are comming from.
Are the fairings aftermarket or just been sprayed up?
The exhaust isn't a problem cos I have a bloke who will pass the MOT on it anyway with that exhaust on.
If the lad doesn't know you cant ride a 400 to do your test on at 18 then he might not know what a tubless tyre is! It might have a puncture or something. Still I can just use an old race tyre!
Looks Nice though!

i guess at that sorta money it doesn't really matter cos almost impossible to lose on it...unless the engines about to bang, or the frames twisted! yeah, i'm sure thats an aftermarket top fairing. i'd still chop the price down for the tyre and exhaust, partly cos im a tight bastid and if i can save a few quid here or there then i will!! treat it like your scrutineering. at the end of the day, its your ££ and if its what u want, then you'll get it regardless!
good luck when u go to view it, if u dont get ur hopes up too high, then u can be dissappointed! but that said, i hope it is a good un, in which case ur laughing!
Evening mr Talbot.
Bike looks nice - many good points made by trout... ive been down this road before with my TZRR. In that write up he gives me the impression he knows a fair amount about bikes but is trying to disguise the fact... and if thats the case, theres no way he wouldnt have known the age limit.
Plus, why wouldnt he just restrict it to 33bhp?
... let me see what thats worth...
At that age, depending on the milage, its worth around 800-900 in good condition. If it was me, i wouldnt buy it - its one of the older baby cbr's anyway which had a few problems but that aside it just doesnt seem right to me.
If after seeing it you still want it, let me know and i'll get an HPI check done on it... that way you can check the chassis & engine numbers, and if you dont tell him, you can quizz him on when he got it and you'll know if he's lying or not.
Ciao.
Well he cant restrict it to 33 bhp to take his test. But i get where you going with it. I think someone might have just put that fairing on for the custom look or it might have been dropped.
What if this bike is Just a minter that someone has spent a lot of time and money on and you lot are ripping it apart! LOL
I will have to see how things pan out.
Oh and it has done 16000 miles.
I have had another e-mail from the Lad with his defence on the bike.
as follows:
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the reply. The fairing was taken off to degrease and clean out the muck
from the radiator. I also had it pressure tested whilst off. I primed it and sprayed
it with lightweight rad paint to show it off better.
With the complete fairing off I had better access to change the plugs, fuel filter,
air filter, refit breather to airbox. I also bled the front and rear brakes and
topped up the water reservoir to its correct level.
I also had to fit a like new exhaust from Japan and my dad made sure that the allen
bolts holding the exhaust were all cleaned and greased with no leaks to reduce
performance.
I used all genuine Honda parts from the Motorcycle Mart Kidderminster..
New bearing front and rear too. I have a complete set of fork seals from Honda with
their dust seals. The battery is a year old.
I sprayed the top of the fairing to match the powder coated wheels. I bought new
grips aswell. The calipers have been stripped and copper greased. The bottom fairing
is in its original rothmans colours and is currently in the garage with the bike.
The other side of the engine is clean an dry with no marks or damage to any of the
casings..
I am heavily into skodas( dont laugh ) and having found out that I cant use the bike
for the part 2 I need the funds to help pay for my 2 seater skoda kit car..
All the best Jay..
A new valve will be needed for the front wheel as I forgot that I had padlocked it
the other day and pushed it forward..Doh..
