My friend Ali is a bad driver and has killed many cars of his own and other peoples because of his crap driving. On saturday after comin out of McDonalds drive through he crashed into the back of an Ambulance. When the police arrived they looked at what had happened and said he couldn't have been Paying attention, his answer to this was "no i was putting my change away from my milk shake when the ambulance just stopped". Now he has to go on a driving course and pay £170 to go on it.

He should have done the course long ago, his driving is terrible he has a different car every month. I really do wonder if he found his license in the bottom of a cornflake packet lol

Not fair to pick on Nigerians because there are some bad black drivers out there. How do you know they are actually Nigerians and not someone from some other African, South American or caribean country for that matter?

I must admit though, that drivers fresh from a non european countries (excluding USA, Canada, Austrailia,Japan and a few other places where road etiquet is well developed) tend to be quite bad drivers on european roads. But, that is no excuse for generalisation that these sort of drivers must be Nigerians.

I must add that this sort of comment do not make you a racist since it is an innocent generalisation. It doesnt mean that any Nigerian reading it would not think you are being a tad unfair.

I had one with a Dobo (patient pending) this morning, the old flick the ciggie out of the window and cover you in sparks.

We met at the traffic lights and both learned something, him not to throw ciggies out the window and me that trying to tell someone about a ciggie is actually a "V" sign :grin2

Me and you geezer are going to fall out rapidly if you ever get close to incinuating i could be anything remotely like a racist, dont get me started on this PC ********, for what its worth and for your information, Equal opportunities and the Race relations act is my bread and butter these days, i say Nigerians because where i work its over 57% Nigerian, 22% White, 9% Somali and the rest is made up from either Chinese or Asian, given that my vision might be knocking on it doesnt mean to say that i dont know what a Nigerian person looks like, do you think you can tell who is from Kenya and who is from Nigeria? i know i can having dealt with people from that country on a daily basis!

The point i was making was that in outer London, especially South East London there is a large percentage of Nigerian immigrants that do not have a UK driving licence.

Think before you jump next time please and especially when you quote me and try to put words into a totally different context, thats exactly how Political correctness got the arse kicked out of it in the first place :angrypun

If you read my comment closely, you would notice that l have stated quite clearly that indicating that certain persons are bad drivers is not a racist gesture but an observation, but it nonetheless may be offensive to Nigerians.
After reading most of your posts since l have joined this forum, you would be last person l would think of in that way. My point is on generalisation statements, that they can be misrepresenting and therefore unfair.

Please be clear that l do not think or suggest or insinuate that there is any racism in your intended ststement.

Well having cleared that up, i would add that whilst i sympathise with the Nigerian population that can actually drive correctly here in the UK, there is a percentage that cannot.

I make no apologies for the opinion i have that a large percentage of drivers in the UK shouldnt have a licence at all, and this includes everyone, its just unfortunate that on my daily travels into SE London i can guarantee that i will have someone pull out on me everyday of the week normally through driving without due care and attention, whilst i couldnt guarantee that every single one of them is Nigerian, i am willing to bet a months wages that the vast majority of them would be, simply because its the heaviest Nigerian population this side of the water.

Take this morning for instance, i had a transit (its always them! :D ) pull across me leaving with about 5 metres to react, i managed to get out of the lane as he drifted across into the middle lane (forcing me into the outside lane). He was without a doubt Nigerian.

When i talk to Met officers that we deal with up here, they actually have a nightmare with them (especially in Lewisham) because half of them havent even got licences, so no insurance and anything else for that matter, they then play on the "i dont understand" card and it becomes a waste of time and money to deal with them :(

Again my comment is based on my experiences, apologies to any Nigerians we have browsing these forums, but your driving test standards over in Nigeria suck! ;) :D

There is also a popular mis-conception that most foreigners believe they can legally drive in the UK on the driving license they were given (oops I mean passed and were awarded) in there own country. I come across this on a daily basis in my job and they have no idea their international driving license is only valid for 12 months here in the UK (unless it's an EU license).

I ride to london every working day along the A2, and l always get cars, vans, truck and coaches make sudden changes of lane, sometimes giving me barely 2 meters to stop or take avasive action. I always look inside tha vehicle to see the tw*t behind the wheel. I must say, l have always seen that they all sorts; whites, Blacks, asian, arabs, male, female etc. The sort of people that do this sort of thing are not always one particular group of people.
Today alone at Aldgate and Holborn l was nearly taken out by taxis driven by home grown drivers. I assure you that i do not ride through town like a courier to warrant this endangerment. It is just a simple fact that there are a huge number of car drivers out there that lack the observation and traffic discipline that are trained into bikers. Hence, they dont see bikers until they are almost driving over them.
Hence, to say one particular group of people are especially blameworthy is to turn a blind eye to all of those other bad drivers out there that put biker's in danger.
That is not to say that a some Nigerians (especially fresh visitors to the country) are not guilty of your observation. I think they are part of a larger problem. Firstly that of foreign vistors from non european countries where driving standards are less than it is in the UK. Secondly, the fact that even in home grown drivers, there are a large proportion of drivers that simply are not motorcyclist aware when they set about making a manoeuvre.
The bottom line is l sympathize with you on this point, because l deal with exactly the same situation as you daily.:grin2 :grin2 :grin2

Thats probably because someone up there told the locals they all taste like chicken or something daft like that :D

Either that its the fact that Billericay isnt what you could call as a thriving metropolis ;) :D
