Hey!!!
Finally got my TZR MOT'd and all!
Been riding it all weekend :D
Got 1 little problem tho!
just got a new carbon race exhaust...
I've been told that I would probably need to re-jet
my carb...
Does anybody know how I can tell if I need to or not?
There is a bit of spluttering between 6500 - 7000rpm...
would re-jetting sort that out or is that just something to do with my powervalve turned round?
BTW...
does anyone have them self-adjusting powervalve gizmo's lying around in da back of their garage? Anyone...?

ello.

I know someone who may have a ypvs servo, i'll let you know m8 - and yes, i have also heard the carb needs re-jetting if you use a different exhaust, as the back pressure changes so much it can dammage the piston...

Its not something I have experience with tho, cos I kept the standard one.

Make sure you put the original one back on next year for the MOT, cos otherwise it will fail :)

hell mate

yeah you will need to rejet if you have a pipe and a filter - you need a filter cos one without the other is pointless and can cause problems. Best off geting both a race filter and a race exhaust which will improve how the engine breathes - air goes in quicker and gets out quicker - one without the other is no good.

if you dont re-jet carb with the race items fitted then you will risk running a lean and hot mixture thus causing seizures and blowing holes in pistons.

i have never rejetted a carb before but i knwo its best to get it done

sometimes you can get away without it but it aint worthit - go for the rejet and the chances are your spluttering will clear up and you will get another 1 or 2bhp from it if done preoperly! :)

Thanx for the help, guys!
I've already got a different filter,
it's a S&B filter - apparently not much different from a K&N.

I'm not 100% sure... but I think the jet in my bike now is a 180
What should I change it to?
210 or sumthing? :?

Cheers!

:P

i dont know what size you should change to - definately bigger and get the mixture tuned - best to ask a bike shop or sumone who has a bit mroe experience with them.

oh yeah dan no worries bout the mail from matt - he has only been back a few days and has already got his dads old BMW on the road <bike that is!> - its been laid up since his dad passed away nearly a year ago now and so he is having a few teething troubles - enjoying it tho! keeps mailin me what problems he has had n how he has sorted them!

He also has his dad's triumph bonneville which he plans to rebuild with stronger pistons n crank etc so he can drag it up the drag strip along side his younger brother n sister! - I wanna do that man!!!

if i move there he said we will all get into it n race regularly - GOD thats soo tempting!! not to mention they have a garage underneath their house!!! :D
