Im just wondering how long a chain and sprockets should last? Im waiting for some new ones at mo so i cant ride my bike till its done because my chain keeps stretching.
Im replacing it with standard Honda sprockets and a D.I.D chain if any one knows how long these will last id like to know ta :jumping2

If you are replacing it with a DID chain then you should have ditched the Honda sprocket and gone for a decent quality one to match the chain.

If you are going through chains like they are going out of fashion then ideally you should be using a 525 heavy duty one and steel sprockets :)

Unfortunately tyres, chains and sprockets are what V Twins live on, i managed to get 10,000 out of a chain and sprockets on my RSV though so there is no reason that they shouldnt last providing that you adjust the chain regularly and keep it in good nick ;)

Ill have a look at some different sprockets then

JT Sprockets or Esjot do steel sprockets as do Renthal (probably the best you can use).

But there is nothing to stop you using a good quality chain and sprocket kit like a DID or Tsubaki chain with Renthal or Talon sprockets to match the chain pitch of course ;)

A twin might be slightly harder on the chain and sprocket than inline 4's but as i said there is no reason why they shouldnt be lasting at least 10,000 miles if you look after the bike and keep them adjusted properly :)

They tend to be pretty good with Chains and sprocket kits :)

Not true at all, the renthal sprockets i have used in the past have been fine, again good chain and sprocket maintenance will help them last, i have heard of people getting 15,000 miles out of Tsubaki chains and Renthal sprockets (although i suspect that wasnt on a V Twin)

The fact is though that you shouldnt skimp on chains and sprockets, the last thing you want is a chain snapping, which is why i suggested a 525VM chain as its heavy duty, again if you go for a steel sprocket and one of them chains there is no reason why you wont get 1000's of miles out of them, my RSV1000 lasted 10,000 as i said. ;)
