Hi guys,
My father has a really nice 125 dragstar. The question is are they restricted at all? If so how easy are they to de-restrict and what else can be done to give them a bit more acceleration?

He is not a speed freak, he just wants a little bit more oomph.

Answers would be much appreciated on this one.

Thanx

Nought I'm afraid. They are restricted with the control unit which cannot be fiddled with, and no one makes a replacement. 12hp flat out is all you can get.

I did 20,000 miles on one when they where new, even managed to seize it, which is very rare.

The best way to get more speed out of it is to find a decent tail wind I'm afraid.

Tell him to have fun, they are a cruiser, not a racer, so cruise baby! :grin2

You could always change the rear sprocket, which would give more acceleration, but bring the top speed down to around 3 or 4 MPH.

Are you joking? Surely.

A 125 that does 3/4mph?

No chance :grin2 :S

No, but in the real world with good weather, on the flat it will do between 70 and 80 flat out, absolutely flat out nothing left.

With a slight uphill gradient, or head wind or both you will be lucky to see 55! You will also scrape the pegs on every roundabout, and being a bike with inner tubes, be prepared to carry a road side puncture repair kit.
