ok.
qualified 14th overall (of 58), 12th of 28 in class A.
Race 1 finished 8th. Best Lap 58.06
Race 2 messed up. Finished 13th. Best lap 59.20. Bad call on changing rear sprocket for 2nd race, should have stuck with same gearing.

Sounds well cool for first outing.

Sod the times. Answer the biggies...

Did you have fun?

Will you be out again?

LOL

i enjoyed it, yes. I was really annoyed at myself for the 2nd race, and this was clearly demonstrated by the bike being thrown into the back of the van within 5 minutes of the end of the race.

this was my home circuit, i was really looking for 2 good top 10 finishes, to be honest. The rest of the calendar is at tracks that i either haven't been to before, or i'm not keen on. Next outing is Mallory, May 20th. I went there once. 4 years ago... :D

Mallory is pxxx easy. Club circuit is like racing round the bottom of a jam jar. You should have no probs.

Gerrards is the only bit of caution. Long sweeper. Stay as far left as you can in the approach. Don't follow the traditional line and that given by the race schools there. Stay out wide as long as you can. Lessens the effect of the sweep of the bend and you will often get the march on stuff going the tighter line then having to readjust mid corner. Trust me. I'm not a doctor. LOL

They threw a chicane into Gerards a few years ago for racing, track days they dont tend to bother but apparently BMCRC were using the chicance last year (although i do know that New Era didnt for some reason or another).

But the line into Gerards is seemingly best taken when you run tight into the corner and then drift out left mid corner as you carry more speed through, before coming back in tight onto the straight.

Watch any race there and you see that its not only a fast line but also a difficult one for people to pass you on, unless of course they have got massive planetoid sized conkers :D

racing's always much easier from the sidelines ;) :D :D

Of course it is :D , its also a lot easier to spot mistakes too (and a lot less painful when someone else is making them i might add :D :D ).

Even worse for Perilous because we not only watch him round the track but he has onboard footage that we can criticise too :D :D

(Although he does a good enough job of that himself so we dont rub it in too much :D ).

But having done that track myself (albeit not on anything like race pace) i do know that to leave it late entering Gerards is not really an option especially for less powerful bikes, because its easier to carry the speed and tip in at the big brake sign and then let it run wide mid corner so you can nail it properly coming out of there, i dont think i have actually seen anyone doing anything other than that and i think its estimated as a 130mph corner without the chicane

Ha that looks like a proper Perilous Polden start that one Harrie.:grin2

Snetterton has come out well.
I'm going to stop watching that though. :grin2 The footage of Snetterton made me right twitchy last night.:grin2
It's not so bad when you weren't on the bike and only see the camera perspective but when you know how close everything actualy is and why the camera is swaying from side to side its not good for the nerves. :grin2 H'mm tiddly winks anyone.:grin2

It's a good job some of the more erratic backmarkers don't have rear view mirrors.

hehe it will all become a bit clearer when i get my arse in gear and write my little story :grin2

no excuses really, it was rubbish, but given how many places i lost i was well chuffed to take them all back again!

the 2nd race start wasn't much better but something to work on, and if i can get a better start and still be taking a few places then who knows!

definitley sounded better than it looked though :laugh1

thanks for all the support though i was chuffed to see so many of my friends there it really made it all the more special :cuddle

i've been wanting to watch this all day but no Flash on my PC at work :shooter
