i prefer the longer exhaust, the new stumpy one just does not appeal to me at all, my favourite gsxr600 is the t reg, the big bad srad, i think the new ones are too small

Ok this is starting to wind me up  . No I have not tested a Gixxer as I have no intention of buying one (Is this clear now)

Secondly I have at no point slated the gixxer I'm sure it's a good bike, but honestly I don't care if it's the best bike ever as I don't want one.
:grin2

And no I will not be testing a Harley Davidson either as I also don't want one of those.

Are we clear?

whats going to happen when everyone has got one?

is it going to be a case of yeah but mine is better than yours and then everyone arguing about the different models? :D

or are you all just going to chat amongst yourselves in the corner like old women everytime a different bike goes past? :D

(hmmm no that happens already! :D )

Dont know where i just read it but Gixxers are now being called Gaysex bikes :D

Personnally i prefer to think of them as the 'bellybutton' bike in so much as everyone seems to have one :D

Although i have to say that most of today i had actually been looking at K3 1000's because i couldnt find my first choice bike (although that may have been solved now :D )

Nothing like some harmless baiting eh :D

wellllll

Not only was i looking at Gixxer 1000 K3's (proper hooligan bike :D ) but i also found myself looking at the 954RR, however i didnt bother with either in the end :D

04 Zx10r, couldnt find that many of them, and the ones i did find seem to be holding a lot of value :(

R1's coming out at the seams, only one i would have considered would have been the 98/99 just so i could have tasted the lunatic power (much the same as the K3 1000 and also the 04 10R).

But i didnt bother with them either,

Even looked at going back over to an earlier RSVR (definitely miss that bike :D )

But i didnt bother :D

So i will carry on looking however i reckon my dislike of underseat exhausts has now changed especially when they can be hidden eh Dal ;) :D

Gixxers are ****!

I can only get away with that because I've never ridden gixxer and therefore don't need to be taken seriously. In fact, I've never ridden a bike that doesn't have at LEAST 10 years worth of rusty bolts holding it all together :D

Yep ;) and that's where my attention will remain I think :grin2

I can't see much point in the earlier model, when for very little monetary difference you can get a model with better handling, better brakes and more power. I have dismissed all of the 1000cc bikes (and 750's before someone says Gixxer again  ) If I go the route of a 1,000 I would be forever comparing it to the RSV and nothing compares to the RSV.

There are only two possibilities One is British and the other isn't :grin2

And of course when Bagpuss goes to sleep, all his friends go to sleep too
The mice were ornaments on the mouse-organ
Gabriel and Madeleine were just dolls
And Professor Yaffle was a carved wooden bookend in the shape of a woodpecker
Even Bagpuss himself once he was asleep was just an old, saggy cloth cat
Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams

Oh and Aprilia cost more, so therefore tend to be slightly further out of reach to the commoner ;) :D

Had you heard me signing the praises of Suzuki this weekend just gone, you would instantly make up your mind.

By praises I mean phrases like...

F*cking piece of crap...

.....never buying another Suzuki as long as I live...

Problem is that I seem to have a bad one (hard to spot in a line up of Suzi's :)) If you have to have a zuki, you should at least get one with a decent V-twin between the frame. You loved your SV, time to upgrade, just pray you get the one in every hundred that was put together by someone with two functioning eyes.

Most of the GSXR's lost the paint on their tank within 600 miles too :(

Sign of the times, most bike manufacturers are cutting corners to save money to make money these days, nothing is built to last, its built to break and built to be serviced (by electronics).

:(

Dal
24-04-2007, 05:15 PM
Well I have come to one decision today and that is I am not going to spend more than £4000.00 ;)

Please don't read this as can't it really is won't, If I wanted to I could go and buy pretty much any bike I wanted :grin2

The reality is the bike is used weekends, hi days, holidays and for rides out into the countryside with you lot. Therefore if it's 0.05 seconds slower to 60 or will only do 155 mph or it hasn't got the latest gizzy wotsit does it really matter? In a word no :p

Likewise most of these bikes (600's) won't do much more than 120 miles to a tank so again if we are stopping that frequently does really have to be that comfortable? Answer as before

So with my budget what are my options

Kawasaki zx6r B1H / B2H and C1H
Honda CBR600RR 2003 - 2004 model
Yamaha R6 2003 - 2004 Model
Suzuki GSXR K3 - K4

Becky the only reason I'm considering the R6 is coz of yours :grin2

There's lots of things I like about it

Headlights Two on eachside unlike all the other 600's
Proper rev counter - unlike the ZX6's
Not common - Unlike (others)
There are loads of parts and accessories for them.

I'd also love a 2005 with the USD folks and radial brakes (but would I realisticly ride it better than the 03-04 I doubt it :o

I am not usually a fan of the gsxr`s as they are so common but this is worth watching , just to see how well they perform.

I have no doubt that any of the 600's current or otherwise are super quick (anything capable or 160+ is loony  ) but as I said before how much benefit would I or any of us get from spending say another 2,000 or more on the very latest road bike. Lets be absolutely honest with ourselves here, around a track Phil on his 70 odd BHP 15 year old ZXR400 would leave us for dust.(Well most of us me included :grin2 )

Most of our buying decisions are based on budget, what the press say :reading what looks good, what new innovations are fitted, some will buy bikes on racing success (luckily not many otherwise Kawasaki and Suzuki wouldn't sell many bikes :grin2 )

that vid is very good. however fail to see why that gives dal a reason to buy a gixxer. good point dal! theres not really much point in buying the latest out.

a big part of my decision, in fact the biggest part, was the fit.

ok i could have had any of the K6 GSXRs (won't even go there! :laugh1 )

Dal have you had a sit on all those to see which feels the best for you? before even thinking about a test ride i'd park my arse on everything to see what it feels like....

(you may already have doen so in which case forgive me)

bizarrely i liked the 06 R6 as well as the GSXR but there would need to be some serious lowering going on there i think, even if it was lovely and light to pick up and (i'm with becky on this one) pretty to look at :grin2

if it's just a weekend toy then have whatever you fancy it's as simple as that :skip

Be warned, when I lowered my 2005 R1, which was only by 25mm, the swingarm almost caught on the bellypan. it also didn't make that much difference tbh. It was only through pure luck that the little bit I did manage to lower it was enough for me or I would have been stuffed, and to R6 is a much taller bike and I am on the understanding the lowering kits that came from Germany where I got mine only lower them by 20mm due to design hurdles.

thanks - any lowering i get done now will be under consultation with my suspension guru :grin2 parkys did a good job of lowering the GSXR a touch for me, but it's not perfect by any means. i just dont have the cash to get it set up properly at the moment and it's not worth it for the type of riding i do on it at the moment.

the crucial thing for me being the height i am is the width of the seat. Parkys were meant to be getting the seat on the GSXR cut down a little, but i've been managing ok as standard, and i'm never off the bike long enough to give them the seat unit!

in truth i think i will be keeping my GSXR until it dies, and hoping for a nice rich man to come along and buy me nice bikes and not expect anything in return :laugh1

a girl can dream.....!
