:)

Well she is resurrected :D

After her little jolly to inspect the allotments at Snetterton, the track bike has been finished again in her new "i just want it looking bright please" paint :D

Only real damage that is noticeable now is the scuffed link pipe and a slightly bent clip-on which isnt causing it a problem anyway (and there is a new one in the post :) ).

Everything else has been done and she is now ready to go again :)

Originally it was going to be something 'lairy' but i opted for red eventually, but by the time it had been discussed with the mate that painted it, it was left to him to decide, it just had to be bright :D

Anyway, he mixed his own concoction and i dont think there is going to be any problem with not getting noticed on track, i am more concerned about blinding any low flying aircraft that just happen to be passing :D

Duracell i am led to believe are in the process of making a complaint after there was a world shortage of copper paint announced :D

The light the picture was taken in really doesnt show how vibrant the colour is really.

However the one taken last night when i finished putting it together shows it in a really nice colour :)

Has he got any of that left? Or has all my yellow gone into your ruddy paint :grin2

The old air inlets look like a work of art.

That was my instant reaction ;)

And i think it is similar to a Triumph colour i once saw too :)

As far as cracks and scratches go, no comment :D

Okay no cracks this time round as i decided to take my time with it, but :D

Having fitted the tank, i then proceeded to jinx myself by telling Jules that knowing my luck when i now go to fill the petrol tank up, it was likely to leak everywhere (it happened on the SRAD :D ).

Yup, it happened, what is weird though is that its not been taken apart and as far as i know (it was a spare tank) it was working before.

But fortunately having a spare tank, i took the fuel tap assembly apart and soon found that there was a gasket missing from the back of the tap, fitted the spare and all is sorted.

That just left me to empty the belly pan which i had fitted and that was no holding all the petrol that hadnt just leaked, but ran out of the tank :D :D

Anyway its all back together, its been started and 'seems' to be running (albeit slightly rough) but i am sure it will be fine once its had the throttle opened properly and the remnants of Snetterton are kicked out of the cylinders :D

Nothing is ever easy :)

Didnt i mention? this is your number 3 bike should the need arise! :D

At least then when it sneaks out onto the track people will just squint and wonder what rusty puddle you had just ridden yours through :D

It didnt all go as planned today anyway, repaired fuel tap still seems to be seeping, and after killing a battery due to the fuel pump wanting to prime continuously it then decided it didnt want to run below around 5000rpm, more like it was running on 3 cylinders.

Oh well the clock is ticking for Snetterton, if it goes pear shaped looks like its going to be another R6 on hire :D :D

Do you know which seal it is the leaking? I was sent to many by Cradley so I may have one you can have ;)

Very nice. And it is in the fastest colour too. Everyone knows red bikes go faster. 'tis why fire engines are red as well...

Its a storm in a teacup ;)

I managed two sighting laps before the battery died as we were waiting to go back out with the instructors following, i quickly dropped another battery in and thats when it felt like it was firing on 3, i did another lap to see if it would clear it, but in all honesty when you are told to stick to 4th gear and not to use any brakes, you arent going to keep the revs above 5000rpm unless they are all fast corners, trying to drive a 400 on standard gearing through a hairpin in 4th gear isnt going to happen :D

So i only actually missed the first session's worth of critique, the instructor made up for that in the second session by pointing out that i now had 2 drills to practice and on a totally unfamiliar bike :D

Twas very good fun though :D

I'm nevous enough of suffering the wrath of my pit crew if I drop my own bike with out dropping the tango fandango as well.:grin2

Seals for that tap. Dunno which bit is leaking but you sould have two plastic washers under the bolts. The oval o ring between the tank and the one behind the turning bit of the tap itself.
The one behinfd the tap is always going when they get a bit old especially if the bike was stood a while.

It's a good idead to put a bit of PTFE on the bolt threads when you put then in too.
If Dal hasn't what you want ring Dynotech to see if they have a spare tap or a seal kit and I'll pick it up for you next Wednesday evening.

Aye, its the small O ring seal that sits in the actual tap unit.

I think it would probably be easier to just replace the O ring rather than do the whole tap as the tap seems to be connected to the tank well enough (no leaks from there).

Strangely enough i narrowed the leak down to when its positioned to reserve, and off, if its left in the on position it seems to hold fine.

As for the rough running problem, it just ran like a complete dog at low revs, not sure if it was drawing air into the system through the tap (suspect thats not the case) or if it was just misfiring slightly, either way i am not in work until lunch time tomorrow so weather pending i will fire the bike up and see what she is like on a fresh battery.

Might ask you to collect some Morris oil though seeing as you are down that way as the next time the fairings come off the bikes are getting their oil changed :)

Yeah the the most common bit. If you move it into just the right place it stops but as soon as you touch ii fuel pees out. Reserve is bound to be where the O ring will be most worn (flattened) as it would have spent all its racing life on reserve.

Easy enough to mend though.

I doubt that is what's causing your missfire though. I've raced a bike with the fuel leaking out and a rag under the tap to soak it up with no problem.

With a bit of luck you may just find your bike was suffering the standard tuned 400 rich bottom end problem as they don't get caned on CSS days especially if you did any slow drills on it.
Bearing in mind yours hasn't been back there lately and had the bottom end leaned off like they do now.

That sounds pretty much spot on as it goes, i am quite sure that the dead battery occured because the fuel pump wouldnt stop priming due to it drawing air in through the tap, once the tap was twisted slightly the pump stopped and the engine ran okay on idle, the rough running disappeared once you revved the bike hard through and beyond 6000rpm, the problem remained though because being stuck in 4th gear for the slow turns (in the rain :D ) you couldnt keep the revs higher than 4-5000rpm, and i certainly wasnt going to try on a soaking wet track and Supercorsa's :D

If i accelerated normally using all the gears, the bike went well enough, didnt feel like it was lacking in power once you got through the spluttering but having mentioned it to the instructor who's advice was to run the bike in 2nd gear, i wasnt prepared to run at such a slow pace round the track revving the nuts out of the bike, it was much easier to pay £160 for a 2006 R6 and let someone else worry about the bike :D

If I run either of mine under 5000 for any length of time they plain and simply stop.
the Number one bike stopped on the way in from the second race Sunday at Cadwell because of the long slow lap.
At th end of the day they are jetted for a pressurized airbox (that works:grin2 ) on a bike moving fast runing between 8 and 16 thousand revs.

At the end of the day Dynotech bikes are built to be umercifully thrashed anything else and they get grumpy.

I had the same trouble with my Aprilia on CSS. I jetted it safe but then in was rick as hell, run like apig and smogged everyone out when I cleared it for the slow drills. :grin2

A two stroke with no engine braking is good fun on the no brakes drill though.:grin2

On mine maybe a different tap (H Model) but there are three seals. Theres a seal between the tap and tank. But from what you have said that ones ok. There is the O ring seal and another which doesn't look like a seal at all until you dig it out :grin2 Here it is. This one is also new and spare.

Let me know if your is the same.

Its the same tap unit apart from the actual plastic tap, everything else has the same part number.

Dont suppose you have a gasket to fit between the tank and the tap assembly too do you Dal?

Well i suppose it would hold with some instant gasket too? :)

If you want to pm me with a price and we can go from there :)

I have asked MickTLS to see if he can't get me some prices from Allenby's but i know he has enough on his plate at the moment with work being busy and dont want him rushing around on my behalf for a paltry thing like this :)

That's the kiddy that always leaks,. that's the oneI was calling an O ring but its a rubber gasket really I suppose if you want to be all picky.:grin2
The oval O ring type thingamy do da between the tank isn't usually much trouble.
but now the bike looks like an excited carrot anything's possible. :grin2

Cheers for the direction to that Cradley Kawasaki place Dal, i ordered yesterday afternoon and it was all delivered this morning

and at a pretty good price too considering i ordered a complete tap assembly amongst other little bits and bobs :)

I'm glad I didn't see them pics until tonight, I rode past yours this afternoon and may have accidently left my bike in its place.

Damn you all for making me start to like plastic instead of chrome!
