ok so the TZR i bought had a bit more wrong with it than my mates brother said. it turns out he ran it without the oil pump hooked up an jus sloshed some 2stroke into the fuel tank. :headbash
anyway the old engine is prity gubbed so i bought a new one thinking "TZRs are TZRs right?" but the engine i bought is a 4DL an my frame is a 4HW (96 TZR125R) and the mounts are slightly different.
now the rear engine mount on the one i took out uses the swing arm bolt but the 4Dl engine has a metal bush in the rear mount making it too narow.
so the questions:
has anyone done a transplant like this?
can i jus "persuade" the bushing out?
wot about the bottom engine mount? my old engine wasn't attatched by it at all!
thanks guys

Any Chance of some pics?
I did one similar but on my old TDR 125 using a TZR 125 engine which didnt have a rear mount from the swingarm, but the tdr engine did i was fortunate enough to be able to bolt the engine in & make up a spacer to stop the swingarm from crushing itself together when torqing it up!
Hope this helps a wee bit.......... (sorry if it dont)
but ultimately id seek an engineers advice!!!

No, the Tzr lump i used had a rear mount that was higher than my swingarm, so i didnt use it........ the spacer i had made was to take up the empty space where the engine once was.
But looking at my tzr manual i cannot see why you cant drift out that bushing, ( its not going to be easy.... & i dont know for sure if you can remove them without the crankcase dismantled.)
BUT and it is a big but........
the basis of the bushing is to not allow a lot of movement or vibration through that bolt, if the bolt is not of a similar size & within 1mm i mean then it will constantly come loose!(theoretically)
so u need to make sure before the bushing is out, the bolt is a snugish fit to the casing,
(measure it with a vernier caliper)
if it isn't get a new spacer made, Or explore the route of a bigger bolt .... but that will possibly mean frame mods to allow the bolt to get to the mount. (just a bigger entry & exit hole) but still enough to comprimise the frames structural integrity (possibly)
Depending on how much it costs can i suggest getting the correct model engine?................. M1 salvage are quite reasonable i bought my tzr lump for arond £80......Its certainly easier!!

lol yeh the correct engine would be a good start! the 4DL engine cost me £92...i think. an as i live on a island i'm not likley to get on to my door for less.
the hole that would be left after driftin the bushing out looks as though it should be the same as the old engine but your right about the vernier caliper.
soon as i can figure out how i'll post some piks (can you only use photobucket coz i'v got em on ringo)
could you put up a few piks of how you did it? i think i get wot you did now!
i'm home tomoro night so i'll take a look at my bike an see if i can puzzle it out.

ok i measured the bushings an it's not gonna work.
an if i mount the engine high an try to brace it bak on to the swing arm the gearbox sprocket is way too high.
i recon i could make it fit if i took it in to collage an set about it in the machine shop but it's gonna be so much easyer to jus get a different engine!
i was realy looking forward to gettin that engine in :(
