I want to replace the end can on my VFR - as you can probably see from this pic, its one complete unit, right down to the underside of the carbs

http://www.essexbikers.co.uk/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=169

sooo.... do I cut the exhaust and weld a new can on, or replace the exhaust system with one where i can change the can? Bearing in mind, that to pass an MOT it has to have the stamp on the can, like it has at the moment.... so depending on the can i end up getting, it may have to be changed back at every MOT.

Also, if i change the can for a race one, what else needs to be done to the engine? My only experience with bike engines is on 2 strokes, and I know on those if you do anything to the exhaust system, you need to modify the carb jets and the air intake system.

Any thoughts greatly received

Stop being a pussy and Just buy one!

firstly you will need to get the link pipe from the bottom of the bike to the can. You can buy these seperatly and then you just need a can to bolt on the end. Plenty to choose from as long as they are al the same dia mouth you will be able to slip a race one on or a road legal one on. Or just swap back to the original system come MOT time.

M&P dont do a downpipe for the NC30 - the guy i spoke to at MnP's said its a common mod made to the bike, but they dont stock or sell the parts required to do it.

Will try Bats and Boxhill tomorrow - they import the bikes, so may sell a replacement downpipe. Here's hoping...

If you can Get hld of Quill they make down pipes and rear sections for pretty cheap.

My dads bandit was the same; with the back box attached to the main down pipe. He got a viper back box then got quill to make an intermediate pipe.

Right - spoken to bats thismorning, and they have an end can for the NC30 which requires no welding. Its a scorpion one that has a removalable baffle, making it a race can come road legal type thing for when the MOT is upon it.

The downpipes are near enough 1200 brand new
I nearly fell off my chair when he told me that.

Anyway, bikes due for a service soon, so i phoned the mechanic who looks after my bike, and he said its worth doing, but I have to look into the best can to use, as its very easy to get carbouration problems.
If anyone knows of someone with a non-standard can on an NC30, or you see any info round the net, please let me know.

Bikes booked in for a service in December  time for the yearly spend on gold plated plugs lol Plugs for VFRR's are SOOOOO DAMM EXPENSIVE!

Get ure self a full race system, because a new standard system is 1200.00 from honda.

There is a place called swona in the uk, full review here

http://www.400greybike.co.uk/Reviews/swona1.asp

do not hack ure system in otherwards

so 500 quid for the half system, twin one side cans, u dont need the front pipes as the front pipes are non-restrictive

not bad..........

Or there the ethos system, and the yamomoto, the tyga system, loads of them these ones arnt cheap , because they're about 800 quid each and the delivery and import taxes are high , unless u do a group buy.......

the twin SWONA! look sexy on that bike but its just the cost!
could always sell the original n put that to ya new one?

in the back of MSN theres a bit that sells stickers for ya exhaust to cover up that "not for road use" inprint on the pipe! (it saved my mate when he got pulled over by a biker cop!!!) there not all that clever! 50p i think he paid! :D

..............HOW MUCH DO U LOVE YOUR BIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
