im sure at least one of you have had to revove the sectin of broken bar end from the bar at some point. its my gsxr srad, i done it a while back and ive been putting up with it but after doing llandow track day the other day i decided i could do without the numbing vibrations through my left arm.

so how do i get it out??? theres none showing what so ever, so pinching it is out as is cutting a grouve to get a screwdriver in it.

Sounds like a "drill the centre bolt out" job to me.

Drill a small hole in it and then put a left handed thread in it. Tighen a bolt in it and then as you tighten it should unscrew the snapped bit.

Providing its a screw in type and not one that has a rubber compression washer....

^^^^^what that clever bloke said.

You can buy these left hand thread removers they are sold as stud extractors, and are available from all good tool suppliers including screwfix.

If you do use a stud extractor, be careful as they are made from very hard, if brittle metal. If they snap inside the hole you are tapping you will have one hell of a job getting it out!

I have a small set which should work if you need 'em.

If it's a motrax type where they use a rawplug type fitting you should be able to get a center punch and knock the remaining screw in the take the pressure off the outer sheild and then it should come out easy..

OR
bang it right inside and leave the broken bit in the bars and just fit a new one.

Or you could cut off 2 inches of the bars and then you would be able to tap it out from the other side with a hammer and small punch.

(ok ok ...... I was joking about the last one.....please don't cut your bars up):grin2

you hit the nail on the head, using the stud extractor was my next move but exactly as u said if it goes tits up it aint coming out so i thought id ask if anyone has any ideas before doing this, as this appears to be the idea looks like i have no choice but to give it a go and be carefull.

thanks guys
