I just saw this whilst perusing the web looking for a so called speed awareness group! i read it & it made me angry!!!:angrypun
i understand & agree with constantly learning more skills but hell i Think that we of all people know the risks BUT THE BIT THAT REALLY KICKED ME IN THE NUTS WAS THIS BIT "

Creating awareness among motorcyclists of how their actions affect their own safety and that of other road users
Changing motorcyclists’ behaviour and attitudes"HOW DARE THEY HOW ABOUT RAISING POXY CAR DRIVER'S AWARENESS OF THEIR ACTIONS & HOW THEIR ATTITUDE AFFECTS US!!

I'm with latey when he grabbed that pug 205 driver by the throat i bet he bloody think BIKE now!!

All our education goes to waste when we with the knowledge have been smashed by some bint who was thinking about those jimmy choo's!!
Or some twonk looking at a bird walking down the road!!!

How do we hit back i ask??

“Take Control-Ride Safely” is the County Councils’ latest motorcycle campaign and aims to reduce the number of casualties involving motorcycles by:

Creating awareness among motorcyclists of how their actions affect their own safety and that of other road users
Changing motorcyclists’ behaviour and attitudesA feature of the campaign is a free motorcycle safety CD Rom, aimed not only at riders, but also their families. It contains information on riding safely, motorcycle maintenance and a game in which road hazards have to be successfully negotiated. Essex County Council also support Essex Police in the national Police BikeSafe initiative and through Essex Bikesafe would like to offer the opportunity to attend Bikesafe skills workshops in the near future. Details of BikeSafe and these workshops can be viewed by following the links on this page.

Well jay i think thats a gr8 idea but i was thinking along the lines of,

When they do their pass plus to teach them motorway skills they are taught about it & taught to check their blind spots my brother didnt even know where it was when i asked him sitting in his car 3 weeks after him passing let alone him ever checking it!

i also think that they should have a harsher penalty for hitting a biker like if its a fatal & its cos of a stupid reason its murder & not death by dangerous driving!! Eye for an Eye!! cos at the moment it just seems there insurance gives them another car & a pat on the back " here have another stab a biker!"

Maybe a cbt as a compulsory part of a car test too!! that'll open their eyes!!

Yer on a more serious note I have always said that car drivers should have to do a CBT. Just so they know how valnerable you are as a rider to crap car drivers. I guess it all boils down to cost doesnt it. But if the goverment are looking at cutting congestion maybe it would be a solution.
I find that 90% of the people who nearly kill me on the way to work are people on phones, we should have some way of reporting these people so that they are prosecuted.

So what you think about this awarenss letter? Some moron who reads MCN fancied sticking his nose in? Or should I be worried!?

I ride in and out of the city every day. I have been riding now for almost 12 months and it still amazies me how much bikers are treated or should I say mis-treated. I do this for the fact that it saves me £100 per month in riding rather than give TFL my hard earned wages. I have always wanted to ride and now I am. This just annoys me as its about time they looked at car drives rather than the bike riders. They are the ones on there phones, ignoring signs and just pulling out infront of other riders. There should be a bit of a campaign for the car drivers to take notice of bikers.

Its about time that the local councils have an inititive on biking and the way we ride. About time they look at the bigger picture.

well ive just left a complaint on the Essex County Counsil website!

Fair enough they want to make the roads safer, but there are other vehicles besides bikes that use them.....to educate us on our attitude and behaviour makes us out to be a bunch of holigans.....no wonder other road users hate bikes so much, when local councils practicaly advertise the fact we're all dangerous!
