Left for work in all my gear as always. Road was dry. Same old journey. Coming onto the chelmer retail park round about in 1st, bout 35mph not in a hurry all of a sudden as I get on the gas the revs shot up.... the backs coming round on me.... Just as im leving the roundabout. I was about to ease off when it grips again and back flips. Lays down on its left side cracking the crank case and exploding into flames as the bike slides 100m down the road.
I rolled over the the raods edge and layed there making sure I had all my didjets as people are all running towards me shouting.
Amnulance was there in 2 mins flat. As were firebrigade. Police took a leasurly 20mins. After they got there the snooty traffic tosser proceeded to tell me that there was nothing wrong with my bike.... The was nothing on the road.... And as a result of this the conclusion he was drawing to was that I was going to be charged with yep "carelss driving." I swear to god what was the need. I was in agony. I just lost £4000 bike and £1000 of riding gear and he says "if you want to avoid court you can pay £170 for an advanced riding course" I was like you ****ing what???? Like this isnt punishment enough!
Ended up in brromfield. Broken thumb, bruised foot bones, torn calf swolen knee and bump on my head.

ouch not nice m8 .......get well soon ...................you need to find out if there had been a spill and if there was had it been reported and if it had you might have some sort of claim against someone it might be worth looking into

Downer! Sorry to hear it. Dont want to make you feel worse but it looks like you need to add a front wheel to your shopping list. RIm doesn't look in good shape. Hopefully you might be able to get some nice looking aftermarket parts to replace the broken bits for cheaper.

Can you not say "see you in court" and then wait and see what evidence they have? THey said there was nothing on the road but can the prove that there wasn't something that could evaporate such as petrol? How can they prove you were being dangerous?

Sorry to hear that mate!

Wouldnt it be wiser to check out your engine before getting your fairing etc etc as the cosmetics are easier to solve then a wrecked engine.. im just making the suggestion as you said the bike burst into flames...:(

Anyway, hope whatever way you do it you manage to sort it out.:reading

So no clue what caused the bike to flip out like that then... makes me pretty anxious and it aint even my bike!:laugh1

yer there was something on the road on the exit of the roundabout. I was about to gas it and as I got on the throttle in 1st it span up, instead of prgressivly gripping it straightened up and grabbed causing me to back flipit happened so fast I cant remeber too much

Probably why its rare i use 1st gear this :D

1st gear might be good for 100mph on a lot of bikes these days but there is just too much danger of getting a corner all wrong unless you are really smooth on the throttle, at least in second there is more room for error :)

Most of the roundabouts in Chelmsford are 2nd gear ones anyway! :D

In 1st gear, you sure you werent leaning over a bit too far (trying to put the sliders down? ;) ), thats the only reason i could imagine anyone would be in 1st for them roundabouts, to keep the revs high whilst cranking it over ;)

Oh come on.... as if there witness accounts would hold up??

'What bike was he riding'

'Erm.. it was... erm... blue... and.... white....i think':grin2

or the best one

'I dont know.. all bikes look the same'

haha...:D

I'd go with the idea someone else suggested earlier.. 'prove it'.. id like to see what evidence they have against you....:reading

I have already stated that I wasnt going for it. I was doing 30 from 0 having stopped at the line like you supposed to.... Naturally the next gear in sequence is 2nd but before i could get there I was in an ambulance.

If your making the implication that I was showing off for the girls then youd be wrong I didnt see them until they were scraping me off the tarmac.

It was as they say one of them things. I had no cotrol over.

Is your insurance paying/paid out for it?:reading

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

It's really only the last 4 or 5 years that my insurance has become cheap enough to always go fully comp.
My RSV Factory just cost £230 comp, the RSV Mille £110.

Hopefully you can get the bike back on the road for a reasonable sum of money. May be worth browsing a few on the race bike forums for any cast offs from bikes being converted from road to race spec.

You didnt say how long you'd been on the road?

Sounds like cold tyres! spining up like that & easily done in first gear too!! glad to hear your getting it sorted & your ok.

(bikes must have feelings too! are you sure it didnt overhear you saying you didnt like it??? lol)
