Has EB ever had any Lanyards done ?

I know there are t-shirts and stuff floating around but I need a new Lanyard for my alarm fob etc.

Talking of Lanyards..

Did you always have the alarm fob hanging from the bike when you were riding it? I took it off the key and just put it in my pocket. Didn't fancy it swinging about.

I always used to have the alarm fob with the bike key, but it annoyed me bouncing around when I was on the bike so my padlock key and alarm fob are now on the lanyard. The lanyard I have has like a small dog clip that you can hook the key to whe off the bike. (some of you might have noticed the red one I wear up the pub and when I'm out)

There is Ribbonworks website. Don't know how cheap they are as I've never looked into getting any done elsewhere, but as usual, you have to work out if you would sell what was ordered.
The woven ones are nice although a bit more expensive than the printed ones.

The woven ones are nice aswell. I would rather have the lettering/logo etc stiched in so it lasts longer.

It's down to you lot what you prefer to pay for. I don't mind sorting them out if everyone is happy with that, but I'll get quotes from elsewhere anyway to make sure I get the best deal, so if anyone knows somewhere local I'll check them out aswell.

Anyway. What I was thinking of doing once I get the design confirmed along with prices and the go ahead from you horrible lot is maybe set up a buy now paypal button/link so you can all pay me via paypal.

For those wanting them posting out I would have to add P&P OR what I could do is add for example 50p to the lanyards and what ever is left over put towards some other stuff. I would of course keep proof of any money taken / spent / profit made for the record but it might be an idea to keep a bit back where possible if we have other ideas.


It's up to you guys ... I don't mind either way.

It's just a rough idea I knocked up but it's all subject to what they can do for us. There are things to consider like doing 2 colours on white is more expensive. The logo might have to be single colour or done in an outline only format. The font also might have to be single colour with no darker outline etc etc etc.

I dare say it will be later in the week before I hear from them and get any concrete ideas and prices but if we gonna have to go 2 colours then I think do the web address in black, the logo as close as we can get it and the "Essexbikers" wording in red all set on a white ribbon.
I'm also thinking of a simple dog clip as I just added a simple silver keyring to mine for my padlock key. I'll try and take a pic of it later to giove you all an idea.

Right. To give you an idea what will be on the end of the lanyards if we do them, this is what I found to be best for the bike (my current lanyard set up)
Please not the keyring that has the alarm fob and padlock key does not come with the dogclip. I put that on myself.

I use the clip to hold the bike key when I'm not on it/walking about etc.

Right I've managed to find some pictures of the fittings I think would work for us.
There is a swivel dog clip and a mobile phone cord (can be used for a few things). Most places are saying one clip is included in price then 0.10p per lanyard for each additional attachment.

And this is the sort of thing we are looking at (although in our own colours and clip set up etc)

NOTE :: The dark blue lanyard at the top is a shoestring lanyard where the middle one is flat printed and the bottom one is shoestring woven.

Right thats that settled then. The top one on the dark blue (or black) lanyard is the same as whats on mine (it swivels aswell) at the moment. Easier to open than the other one below it.

You can always do what I did and put a normal key ring on there as well !!

After speaking to the company today I have updated the design a little as the fonts will come out a bit naff so we will use standard fonts to keep them clear and easier to read (also easier to make).

This is where we are at the moment with the design although I am looking at altering the bike image so it is one colour to (a) make it easier to see on the lanyard (b) keep the cost down. (although the final price is yet to be confirmed so lets wait and see first).

They will just have the swivel dog clip as mentioned above on a white lanyard.

Also we currently have 37 on the list but this is not enough. We really need to try and hit 100 although I am willing to order that anyway so there are some spares floating around as there is bound to be people who see them and ask for them afterwards.

What do you mean by what colours ? The web address ? because the Lanyards will be white and the bike as above so there is just the font colour to choose. personally I think red looks good on white and thats how it is on the site (well ..... the essex bikers wording)

That should look nice. Just remember that screen printing is priced on how many colours you use. You suggest red and black which is two, maybe have the bike printed in red as well which will be one less colour and less cost.

Contact them and see what they suggest.

If we can get Red & Black cheaply then great.

Karl. Can you simplify the bike a bit by removing some detail from the wheels and maybe loose the heel plates, rear brake lever etc as they are saying it might be ok for printing but probably too intrigate to weave ???


Also, they have given me some prices for 100 lanyards based on the bike logo and web address and the most expensive ones using two colours on a woven lanyards (everything stitched instead of screen printed) works out we would have to sell them at about £3.30 each.

Here are other options. All these are prices are what you would pay.

The difference between one and two colour options are minimal so if thats the same for jumping up to three colour then I reckon about another 30p per lanyard for that.

Right, look back a page or two for the last mock up I posted. They will be a white lanyard with logo in black and website address either in black or red depending on if we go single or two colour.

The prices to you for printed lanyards is £2.00 single colour or £2.30 two colour.

The prices to you for woven lanyards is £3.00 single colour or £3.30 two colour.

These prices are based on ordering 100. If we order 50, you can basically add £1.00 per lanyard across the whole colour range in either printed or woven.

Ok I have now got the re-worked logo from Doodelbug and have asked for re-quotes on 50 lanyards. I should have a reply when I get home tonight, and taking all is well I will make an order next week.

If the price is too steep on ordering 50, I'll get 100 and that way we'll have some spares floating about as there are bound to be others that want them who havn't been on here for a while.

Once they have replied later I will post here again with final prices at which point (taking you all agree) I can start collecting some money for them.

I have received a proof from the lanyard company today and it looks good and as the pic in my previous post (black bike . . . red website address on a white lanyard).

Bad news is they are saying it cannot be woven as the design is too detailed still to go down so small onto a 1.5mm lanyard (confirmed by other companies who also quoted), so they will have to be screen printed.

If we order 50 lanyards they work out £3.50 each.

BUT

If we order 100 lanyards they work out £2.10 each.

Both prices are what you pay after I have paid for P&P and VAT etc . All I have done is round the price up to the nearest 10p making about 1p or 2p per lanyard which anything left over will go in the pot for any other ideas and I'll keep all proofs of purchase etc should anyone wish to see them.


The choice is up to you lot, soon as I have a some feedback I'll arrange to collect some payments off you and get the order put in.


Also, Brian could quote me as I said to lateshift, but I'm not sure if he can do lanyards or if he does screen printing. The companies I have had quotes off all specialise in lanyards and have all the tools for the job and all the various clips etc etc.

Well for the sake of it I am willing to order 100 so I can keep the cost down and hold some back as I dare say there will be people who don't come on here often and say later down the line "where can we get one of those lanyards" ?

It will cost me £170.38 inclusive of postage and VAT if I order 50 or £207.98 for 100. So if I order 100 and sell the 50 asked for so far i will be subsidising about £102 till any others sold BUT it keeps the price down and keeps some in hand for other people.


I could always chat to Kev and see if he wants to keep a few at the pub incase anyone asks for them on Wednesday nights as I don't get up there much.

I'll leave this thread running for a while to get some feedback.

I have got a confirmed delivery date for the lanyards of Friday 24th August.

Only one major thing ....... I have changed the colour after taking a looking at some samples and coming to the conclusion white lanyards are gonna get filthy really quick and more importantly ..... they look gay.

So I have had the bike logo colours inverted and gone for something like this which I hope your all happy with because they are now ordered.

I have seen some black lanyards with red and other various colour fonts and they actually look quite nice and I would think they are going to stay cleaner for a lot longer.
