Daytime MOT

Just so i know incase i decide to, How do i go about Registering my track bike If i wanted to use it on the road,is it just a case of obtaining a daytime mot & applying to the DVLA for one???
Just wondered as it could come in handy having it as a spare method of transport!

I think you need to register the bike first, so it has a number plate, then get a daytime.
