I sold 3 fishing reels on ebay last week which i described as mint condition, i've used them 5 times & mentioned that in my listing. I was a bit late with the postage & now the guy has recieved them he's saying that he wants a full refund because the bail arms are broken on one & nearly fooked on the other! they have been used 5 times!!!, where do i stand with ebay???
I've told him im not giving a refund as the reels have been used 5 times & were fine when they left me.

this is my first complaint from a buyer & it's really wound me up.

What do you lot think???

Its difficult coz its your word against his........if theyve got banged up in the post its down to them not you but unfortunately theres not much you can do about that either.

When hes says theyre fooked what does he mean, smething snapped off or bent....if you have the photos still maybe that can show that there was nothing wrong when you sent them.

Whatever happens, speak to ebay, theyre normally pretty helpfull!

Not sure on the photo thing, even if they were dated (digital camera ones often are) theres nothing to say you didnt 'break the reels then post em' not saying you would of course just trying to see things from both sides..

I think ebay has a Live-Help desk.. speak to them, helped us quite well when my dads ebay account got hacked into.:grin2

I had one guy come down and look at the car, after bidding up to about 800 quid he made up faults with the car (exhaust blowing etc etc) and just to get rid of the car my dad settled for a little more then 600... never the less.. i waited till i got my 'positive feedback' and due to terms of service, negative feedback was given as he did not pay the price he bid.:shooter

I got a very angry threatening email back about how much of a w**ker i was and how he came halfway across the country to collect the car that didnt work blahblahblah

Long story short, sent an email back telling him to read the terms of service of ebay and if he emails me like that again ebay will get involved... strangely i never did get a reply.:grin1

Ebay tends to be full of timewasters, scammers, and just plain tossers!!:laugh1

Give him the refund and get him to post them back to you, you may have to pay the postage.

You can then anul the transaction with ebay and get your ebay costs back.

Then assuming there is no damage when they get back to you, sell them to someone sensible with a more accurate describtion.

The term "Mint" is over used and over exagerrated, the term "mint" comes from the condition of coins, and it literally means, as it came out of the mint, once a coin has a finger print on it (let alone any other damage), it is not mint condition anymore and will never be mint again. So I would say that with a fishing reel, if you have taken it out of the box it cannot be mint, if you have used it 5 times there is no way it is mint condition.

Unfortunately, you have misdesribed them and don't have a leg to stand on.

Well im not refunding him yet, if i get told to by ebay then fair enough i will, but until then no refund im afraid. I mean at the end of the day i said they had been used & were not new, but they were in mint condition for the use that they had. if he wanted new/mint ones then buy them from a shop, as it stands he's saved £150 off shop prices so cant see why he's moaning!
we'll see what happens!

Get it..?? Wound me up..lol..

If you agree to a refund, make sure he sends them back first.. I personally wouldn't. Is it possible he's taken the good parts out of yours and used them on his own reels..???

I'd say sorry, NO REFUND. You may get a report thing from Ebay.. but its not the end of the world...
