Nightmare of a weekend as far as my racing was concerned!

Was in the open class and the 600s but as a late entry I was a reserve for one and last on the grid for the other!

First race in the open class I started about 34th on the back row with a few other reserves about me. Managed to get up to 15th place and slowly making my way through the pack when it was red flagged due to a crash on lap 4!! So that was the end of that.

1st 600 Race I started last on the grid. Stoopid circuit had no numbers on the grid after the GP came so it was a mess up on the grid. I just pulled up anywhere on the back row with about 5 others! Anyway. Got a good start and again was making my way through. I could see the leading pack of about 10 or so with the front runners well ahead. Not sure where I was but again about 13-15th place. Passed someone going into McLeans and then going into Coppice I saw him on the inside coming very fast. Then he slid off his bike which came straight into the side of me taking me out. Just at the same point I crashed last year! Crazy!

Spent the rest of the morning getting the bike ready with new levers etc etc. Cut the fairing down and had no screen. Duck tape everywhere but at least I was back on the grid for the second 600 race. I was about 19th on the Grid for some reason but at least it was better than last. The guy who knocked me off was on the row ahead?? Whats that all about? But anyway got off to the usual start and made up a few places. Gradually getting higher and higher up the pack then I spot the black flag and orange dot with my number! I pulled up at the end of the pit lane as soon as I saw it. Turns out my crank case had a small crack in it and it was spraying oil all over my exhaust, back brake and tyre! I didn't see the smoke but was told it was like I had blown up! I think I was lucky really cos the back tyre was covered! I thought I would have lost it going into the next right hander or blown up when I ran out of oil!

Didn't have a welder or another crank case with me so had to call it a day! Only to find out that I had qualified on the second row after my times in the first race in the opens! DOH!

SO 4 races paid for. Non finished. One not even started. About £300 worth of damage to the bike... And a sore Arse!

Never mind!

Yeah I heard about that. GSXR Cup. My Mate Bruce was one of the lads that came off at the first turn. And Ben someone too. They were both at Donington in the 600s.

i'd heard a couple of them were back at oulton before too long so great to hear they were back the next day.

the helicopter was for Jamie Wilkins(on?) (Fast Bikes journo), broken a vertebra in his neck but all stable and ok and coming out of hospital in a few days apparently.

owwwww glad everyone is ok.

The joys of racing, but you do it for fun remember.:grin2

Still on the plus side at least you got in before you lost the back end in your last race.

good result to qualify on the second row though as you haven't been out much this year.

Lets hope the next one goes a bit better.:)
