well just looked at it and what a load of crap not very life like , why is the chain loose around the front wheel ? whenit should be around the rear ? why is it on the ground when the instructions tell you to keep it off? , wheres the patio set against the wall :grin2 , why isnt it joined to a ground anchor on the lower side of the bike when its on the stand and at the top of the wheel and pulled tight with the alarm on ? I could go on

why arent they using the thief's preferred weapon of choice on the Almax chain?

'the hydraulic cropper'

none of this hand cropping crap for a professional, they tend to use stuff fit for any Fire Service :D

its normally nicked from the fire services , its costing us a fortune :shooter trouble is they normally havent a lot of brains and leave parts they need behind :grin2

Maybe thats why we keep getting oxy bottles nicked from the yard

Easier than bolt croppers :grin2

Almaxs rock, if you don't believe all the stuff in the Video just go onto visordown and speak to Zanx. They are seriously solid chains and worth the money and the added weight you have to carry around!

I dont doubt it, but you wouldnt get me shelling out on a chain that costs the earth, does very little to the insurance (never lowered my quotes by much at all) and has the weight of a small child riding pillion with you :D

Also the bigger the chain, the harder it is to carry, would you carry it around your body on a bike? i certainly wouldnt, far too much scope for an injury caused by one of them getting caught up in a crash let alone from having it snap you in half due to the weight of it :D

And again, is sod all use against a professional thief ;)

I say it all the time, if they want it bad enough they will have it, you are better off these days with an insurance policy with a low excess :)

More often than not if they can't take it, they just damage the bike out of spite anyway, then its still your insurance that has to cover it ;)

I've got 2 Almax chains - One for portability when out and about and the other for at home to attach the bike to a ground anchor.

They offer very good deals on their chains, locks etc and I would most certainly recommend them.

I do agree that if someone wants your bike enough, they will get it one way or another but when the supposed leading chain / lock on the market can be cropped in 11 seconds you may as well not bother or use your shoelaces to secure it.
I believe that at present, the Almax is the only one proven not to be cropable.

I believe that the truth is being made known on bike security on a TV prog on ITV @ 19:30 on the 24th July called Gone in 60 seconds.

Have a good search on You Tube or go on to Visordown and search for Zanx and check out the other video's etc.

Do any of these chains including the Almax ones survive the quieter methods of robbing a bike like Acid???

They survive the freeze attack better I know that for a fact. You'd have to ask Zanx about the others. Personally I see that yes if a proffessional thieft whats it they are going to have it. However if the local Barry see's it they may be deterred, or if they have a choice of my bike almax'd and disk locked up, against something with a basic cable lock etc, fingers crossed they are going for the cabled one.
Oh, and my insurance quotes were dropping around £20 when I was getting quotes through Ebike, but to be honest it's more peace of mind than money reasons that I purchased it (second to security obviously).
Cheers
Alex

Horses for courses i suppose, for me if someone is going to take the bike, i dont want to see it again, once its damaged by some thieving scrote who cant take it away its no use to me :D

All this is a mute argument for the theives in London. They simply put superglue in your lock whilst you are at work and come back then next day when you havent had a chance to replace the lock/chain that you had to have very expensively smashed to bits to get your bike home!

I just dont bother, especially after watching 2 DVLA guys just lift my bike into the back of their van no problem whatsoever.

^^ Gotta lock it to something, no point just whacking on a lock and not attaching it to something sold. Just out of intrest, why were the DVLA nabbing your bike?

Long boring story. Bottom line being dont be too lazy to go into a post office to get your tax disc

I spent 2 hours this morning installing a ground anchor in my garage.

Burnt out my own Bosch drill trying to get a 20mm drill bit through the concrete, ended up borrowing a Hilti off a neighbour and still took a further 20 mins to drill.

Hope I never loose the key to my lock now!
