For sometime now i've been thinkin of sellin up, and goin for somethin different...
As much as i love the bike, i'm just no enjoyin it like i used to...
Its a speed machine, and i'm gettin bored with it... I love goin out for rides still, but speeds not the big issue for me anymore.... I want more comfort..
I went out today and rode like a prat, just to get some kind of a thrill, I'm doin a track day soon, so i'm hopin it might just give me a motivation injection to keep it...

Been lookin a various bikes lately, quite like the hornet 900..

I'm at a lost end now.. don't know what to do....

Lots of nice nakeds about now, take your pick. Almost every top sports bike has been given the stripped down treatment now.

The Hornet is a very good bike, but there might be others that will offer more thrill factor when the mood takes you ;)

Occording to July's issue of Bike the list of nakeds is:

moto morini veloce
BMW K1200R
Yamaha FZ1
Triumph Speed Triple
KTM Super Duke 990
Ducati Monster S4R
Mv Augusta Brutale 910R
Aprilia Tuono 1000 R
Benelli TNT Sport
Kawasaki z1000

Don't know why the Honda isnt included but there you are.
After putting them through their paces with a series of tests, the outright winner was the bike I'd have bought given the above shopping list.

The Tuono, try one, now.

If you don't want a thou bike I'd also look into Supermoto style bikes, lots of them out there.

Funny that. I wanna do a bit of touring so Ive been considering selling up and looking at a GS next year. And just using my cbr on the track.

Best of both worlds really.:grin2

Well here are my thoughts for what they are worth (which probably isn't a lot).

I have had several sports bike, naked bikes and others over the last few years and also had the pleasure (or not as some cases were) of riding quite a few test bikes and mates bikes, and I still ended up back on a sports bike, albeit a late gixxer which I find rather comfy.(did over 300 miles on it last Sunday for example).

I've had a few bandits, which are really good bikes, bullet proof etc etc and I took my last 1200 to the North West 200 in ireland and covered 1500 miles over 5 days without a comfort problem.

My 2003 636 B1H (like Dal's new bike and same colour) was extremely comfy for a sports bike although a bit clunky as they have a reputation of having a noisy box, it did however have a good tank range with regular 150-160 miles coming between petrol stops. Downside is the addictive airbox noise did make you want to ring it's neck all the time.

My FZ1 (new shape) was great around town, over to burnham etc etc, but it was a bit high for me. Fast aswell so maybe not the right route to take. I left my mate in the lanes on the way to burnham and he was riding my 2005 R1 and he does regular track days so that gives you an idea of how fast it is. Sit at 40mph in top gear and roll the gas in slowly and it will catapult you cleanly to 140 in about 'silly' seconds while making you feel like some 10 foot giant is running behind you trying to drag you off the back of the bike by the scruff of yer neck.
Also, went to Derbyshire one sunday and met some mates then went to matlock and once there sat down feeling like I had been run over, so it turned out not to be the most comfy bike in the world. And yes ....... they do have a flat spot..........don't listen to anyone that tells you different.

Z1000 ....... Never owned one, but rode a few and to me they always feel a bit like the speed triples in the fact those clocks always look too close to you and you feel like your hanging over the handlebars. Not much in the way of wind protection either.

Test rode about four 900 Hornets and simply too buzzy. I got off all of them with dumb fingers.

I suppose it really depends on what you want. I'm the worlds expert at swapping bikes every 5 minutes and I am determined to stay with the gixxer now, and slowing down (a bit) was the main reason for dropping down to a 600. It seems to be working although I am better when I ride on my own and don't have the temtation of trying keep up with others etc.

Cheers Tez.. If anything here, i need people's opinions, and that was good. I know i'd hate to sell the gsxr and would proberbly end up with somethin else and be dissapointed with it..

I love my gixxer, I think we're just goin through a bad patch..lol..
Think i'll stick to the country lanes for a bit and try and get on with it...

Try putting it in 2nd gear and remove the gear lever for a while :grin2
