View Full Version : Help Needed!
Hi there, hoping you guys can help here.
A friend has a Hyosung 125 Hyper, and from what we can tell, its a 4 Stroke engine...but the last owner before him put 2 stroke in, and he's been riding it around on 2 stroke!
What damage could he possibly have done, is it fixable, or, fingers crossed really, can we put 4 stroke in, and hope it hasnt done damage?
any help appreciated, much thanks beforehand!

presume you mean 2 stroke oil, not petrol?
in which case is it gearbox or engine oil?
if its still working OK then i`d say change it ASAP and you`ve probably got away with it. they are after all doing the same job of protecting and lubricating moving components, all be it at differing speeds and tempretures.

2 stroke oil being run through a 4 stroke engine isnt necessarily a bad thing as long as its only run to clean the engine out ;)
You can safely run 2 stroke oil in any 4 stroke engine to clean crankcases etc, its an engine oil whichever way you look at it and is primarily designed to be thin enough to pass piston rings and be pushed out of the exhaust as well as lubricating under pressure ;)
If there is 2 stroke oil in it and it has been run just drop the oil and fill up again with semi synthetic 4 stroke making sure you change the filter :)

just want to let it be known...hes asking it for a friend...
doesnt in any way affect his own bikes problems...
and anyway, i asked him to put it on, mainly because i didnt want to give the wrong advice out.
But thanks for the sarcasm anyway.
as for those who DID reply with some really helpful answers, cheers, we've changed the oil and filter this morning, but i am fairly sure the last owner just left the empty bottle in his boot, but better to be safe then sorry!
