Hi all...I use front n rear paddock stands quite often when I'm cleaning my bike. However, when i put it up on the rear one the number plate gets in the way and I have to angle the stand really dodgily (technical term) which leaves it resting on just the edge of 1 wheel momentarily.
Because I have to use bobbins and the hook attachments the bike also 'swings' onto the right bobbin, and the bike almost fell on its right side once.

Anyways...to the point...has anyone got any tips or techniques that might help me out here?...my brother isnt always there to help steady the bike...

Thanks in advance ladies n gents.

My bike has a little grab rail that i use the hold the bike upright with, but i dont think yours has.

I think the best, safest way to do it is with help from someone else.

Just been on the abbastand site and watched the example video...can't think of a better way to spend £100 at the moment!!
Cheers for the help guys...I don't usually let other people spend my money for me, but in this case I'll make an allowance :clap. Spot on !!

Thanks to Gixxer400 as well...no i don't have a grab rail ... dont really wanna fit an aftermarket one either...so I'll take your advice n use my brother until the new stand arrives!

Cheers again

I know I sound like an old fart but what ever happened to centrestands being a standard fitting. Oh and crank handles on car engines in case the battery went flat.

That'll be because centre stands look orrid & are extra weight thats not needed :grin2

Utter rot!

Everyone knows that the Japanese motorcycle industry removed them to keep sales figures up on 600/1000 sportsbikes.

Wimps these days wouldn't be able to get their bikes onto a centrestand and Grandads like me would say if you can't get it on the centrestand it's too big for you.

I thought everyone knew...:grin2

Thats why the grin was put at the end mate......a sarcastic comment :grin2

I havent got a clue why they dont but they do look a touch on the crap side, practical but dont look right on sports bikes, i wondered if it had something to do with clearance, being that most sports bikes now are track orientated

I agree. On the reverse I think the Duc 1098 sidestand sticking out the side of the fairing looks as bad as any centrestand.
