Can anybody recommend a breakdown service that can actually fix your bike.
I went over a nail on a roundabout last night, walked the bike for a mile and then called Carol Nash who I get free recovery with my insurance.
I explained I was only 2 miles from home and could walk the bike back if there was a long wait, they said they would be out in an hour, then called back to say an hour and 45 minutes, two and a half hours later the bloke turns up to take me and the bike home.
Nice bloke who couldn't have been more helpful and was going to change the tube but he couldn't get the tyre off.
I ended up further from a bike place that could fix it than when I was at the side of the road.
Obviously if I was a fair way from home it would of been a godsend and it was a free service but it's given me the kick up the arse to find a company that can do roadside repairs.
So who do recommend?

I have been recovered a total of 3 times by the AA :grin2
First when my RS125 chewed itself up, and twice last year with my ZXR400.
As each occasion wasn't a roadside repair, I made it clear I would need a transporter to get the bike home. Of course you have to have Roadside Relay and not just Roadside, or they won't do it.
They always ask if I know what the problem is and if you can specify the problem, if they have a guy around that does bikes, they'll sort it out.
Well worth the money for me so far LOL. But if you specifically want a place that repairs roadside, you'd need a bike specific one and I haven't a clue about those :D
Aaah, I'm helpful as ever :D

Check out NCI -- we been with them for about 5 years --I am certain they advertise road side Puncture repairs to??. We called them first time a few months back -- cos park light was left on at Brands in march -- (no allan key .. so could not get seat off to get a jump) Anyway it took forever for them to turn up eventaully we flagged an RAC man down who opened seat and jumped us in a couple of ticks ... So wont be bothering with NCI --but if ithier policy is correct -- given them a try ...?

A coolant pipe split at National speed limit :D and dumped the coolant all over the Braintree bypass, thus it decided to roast itself to a horrible and untimely death :D
Dont worry its not a particularly common fault, stay on top of the maintenance on the RS125 and its a good little bike (especially unrestricted), let the maintenance slip and you can expect to be throwing it away ;)

NCI use SOS all the time. Thats what I like about NCI, they dont actually own any vehicles, they just have arrangements with lots of recovery firms, so unless you are out in the wilds, help is usually nearby. As for roadside tyre repair, that will only work for tubed bikes, I doubt anyone will stick a mushroom in your bike roadside and let you ride away. The usual drill is to pick you up and drop you at a tyre shop, you then have the opportunity to do your own negotiating.
Learn to fix your own punctures, its dead easy, SLIME now sell a pump which is 4" square, so can be carried that will inflate a tyre in 7 minutes running off your battery, hardly draws any ampage so wont flatten your battery.

i was picked up by them when my 748's main fuse decided to melt itself into the loom :grin2
they were great, i got breakdown cover through my insurers at the time (through a company called Sentinel I think?) and they turned up with a purpose built van and a very genial bike-riding driver :clap
