Don't know why but I am getting moor and moor peed off seeing people riding in central London just wearing work cloths. This morning there was some idiot woman weaving from one side to other side of road trying to get further up the road on some little 50cc scooter. All she had on was tight trousers and tight fitting long sleave top. There is part of me saying have an off see how much skin you loose. I see it all the time men in suits and no safety gear apart from a lid.
Am I right in having these thoughts?
This also goes for the sad little chavs round my way who only have there trackies on and tee shirt on popping wheelies.
Am I getting the hump for no reason thinking of others who WILL get hert when they come off.
No gloves is one I always notice too!!
I think we have a right to be p*ssed off with them as we are all bikers and the more people get hurt like that the more it sterotypes bikers and our families and friends tell us more and more how dangerous bikes are.

I have thought for some time, and especially after my recent adventures, that the government should actually make it law to wear protective equipment.
It is my understanding though that this would put the price of bike gear up hugely, because except for lids, NO motorcycle gear is actually certified to a given standard. Welding gloves actually offer more protection than almost any of the gloves we all wear!
But it goes without saying that my gear saved my life last week. I would have had no back to my head, and no left foot had I not been wearing the correct equipment.

It's stupid to think nothing will happen as anything could happen, when we had the real hot summer last year my mate saw a guy with shorts, flip flops & his lid carrying a girl wearing wait for it........just a bikini!! I don't care how hot it is thats just stupidity. I think there should be some law to at least wear a jacket & boots if nothing else as going any speed you can get hurt.
All the boy racers/chavs on friday night where i work race round the car park with their lid on if you lucky, not much else.

Anyone old enough to remember 'CHIPS' on tv. Short sleeved shirts, always crashing, felt sorry for the stuntmen.

I learn't my lesson the hard way in my early riding years, on a hot summers day riding out of London I decided to take my jacket off and strap it to the back of the bike, literally 5 minutes later I was on my a**e after a van decided to do a u-turn into me. Cue a world of pain :-(
But aside from that the important fact remains that we still need photos :grin2

I got stopped in Burnham the other weekend. It was a Saturday and the Police were advertising their Bike Safe event on the Sunday. An Officer pulled me over to the side of the road and said he had done so because I was only wearing Tshirt and Jeans - Fair enough I thought, not illegal but he was pointing out the dangers.
As I was getting back on the bike to continue he said "and lets face it love, that cleavage is bound to cause an accident" - I was livid, how very unproffessional.

hmmm cleavage causing traffic problems, not an issue i'm ever likely to have :grin2
on the recent occasions where i have decided to risk wearing normal jeans on my bike, i found i rode totally rubbish. all i could think about was falling off and hurting myself.
i've got some draggins now for those popping to the shops moments but still dont feel 100% in them. i never skip the proper boots and gloves though.
