anyone know where we can get our hands on a list of what they'll check in scruteneering on a bike, as where prepping the fireblade i smashed, for the track & would like to know what they'll look for , ps it will probably be brought to a higher standard than the usual trackday so maybe what the check in racing would help??:reading

Lenny is best to answer this as she was a regional scrutineer and trained a lot of our and New Era's current ones but basically its pretty simple really. If it won't pass an MOT it won't pass scruitneering (Lights, horn etc excluded of course)
There is a comprehensive list in the ACU book but it takes ages to plow through that. (used to have to test Lenny on it, very tedious, time you've done sidecars too:grin2)
Also.
Handle bars must have at least 30mm of clearance on full lock so your hands can't get trapped.
On a four stroke the belly pan needs to be capable of holding all the engine all if there's a leak.
All breather pipes (Rad, engine etc ) have to go into a catch bottle.
All bolts etc that go to a oil feed, e.g. Sump plug, filler cap, oil filter, oil pipe banjo bolts (although in reality they rarely check those) etc need to be lockwired. You can put a jubilee clip round the oil filter which makes it easier to lock wire.
No coolant other than water in the radiator.
Basically all they do is check nothing's loose, wheel bearings, chain etc are ok. Check the brakes work and don't leak then if they are a new scrutineer find something really obscure to pick fault with. :grin2

i asked a friend who was racing in the same class as me to give my bike the once over at a trackday we were doing together. not sure if you have this opportunity but it's worth a thought.
don't forget the shark fin to stop your toes getting caught in the chain  you can buy them from R&G etc or you can just make your own.

Ah this could be a problem theres nowhere to mount one on the swingarm!! or can u just drill & tap threads into the swingarm?

oops forgot that one. Don't pop revett them they always work loose.
Self tapers work OK as well as tapping them. If you start fairly small with the bolts or self tapers if you do wrend it off in a crash you can go to a bigger seld taper or thread a bigger bolt.
The overpriced ones you buy look nice but home made ones out of a bit off 3mm ali are better really as they tend to bend and do less damage to the swingard if they do get hit if you bin it.

if you dont wanna drill your swinger, you can use jubiklee clips around the swinger to hold it in place. put some thin rubbe under the clips, and you wont mark the swinger.
