edit: online plate builder now available :) www.curzonweb.co.uk/vaultgraffix
i'm expanding into the world of plates... car, bike, gift etc.
Have a look at the draft i've knocked up... plates like this will be about a tenner (to be confirmed) including postage.
i will also be authorised to supply dvla approved fully legal plates. but no one wants them though ;)
if you are interested let me know in this thread and i'll post up more info after the weekend :)

the deal with 'legal' plates, is that i have to see id of who you are, and id with regards to the vehicle registration (v5). it is illegal for me to sell you an offical 'legal plate' without this.
i can however, supply something that looks very similar to a legal plate, constructed to the same bsau standards as a legal plate, using the same bsau approved equipment as a legal plate on the understanding that it is a show plate. so basically, a legal plate without the paperwork kerfuffle.
Of course, if you want a 100% legal plate and can show me id, then i will be able to file the info on the necessary database and supply a 100% legal plate :)
all assuming the dvla approve me, of course, else its 'show' plates only and no paperwork to deal with.
make sense? nah, its government gone mad!

ok, TROUTY'S ONLINE PLATE DESIGNER is now functioning :)
it can be found here: http://www.vaultgraffix.curzonweb.co.uk
its pretty basic, but you can type in your own reg, select the font, add the EB background, add border etc to get an idea of how it will look :)
it also saves me being given info in pm's, on the board, paypal etc.

HOW CAN I PUT MY USER NAME ON LIKE THIS?
troutslayer
20-08-2007, 05:09 PM
ok, just to clarify, plate sizes available are:
9x7, 8x6, 7x5, 6x4. You can select the plate size, the ghost image, the font and the border, and type in your own slogan, all via the online ordering system.
The image on the online updates in realtime. Now the image that you see is a 'representation' of the final plate, however, things will get jigged around for fit, a prime example is the borders - on the image, they are shown as closed borders. if you have a slogan along the bottom, then i open up the border to account for this.
The online ordering system sends the plate information that you enter, to me via email (so make sure that its correct! ) and then directs you to paypal to complete. This is why your email on the online design page is important - it means i can put the correct plate details to the correct payment and post it to the correct address.
so, basically speaking... go to the plate designer online, put your CORRECT email address in, sort out the stuff you want on the plate. I put the plate together and post it out to you.
The advantage of this system, is that i dont have pm's bouncing around between the various different forums that i visit, and that means that i dont accidentally forget to make your plate. (yes, i'm human and make mistakes now and then...)
the online ordering system can be found here: www.vaultgraffix.curzonweb.co.uk
and yes, the website looks unfinished, mostly because it is unfinished!

HOW CAN I PUT MY USER NAME ON LIKE THIS?
you know what? i was thinking about this over the weekend, and i'm wondering if its such a good idea to put usernames on? i figure its pretty easy to spot say, shiny new r1, and spot a username with a forum address... then have a little wander around on that forum and find out when that person is away for a weekend, or at work, etc etc etc... you see where i'm going with this???
I can put your name in the corner of the plate if you like... its a bit of a mess around for me as i have to create the whole plate in a different graphics package, but i'm happy to do it if you like, or have it down in the slogan as per how 'captain' had his. I'm flexible.
When you go through to paypal, there should be the option to 'add special instructions for the merchant'. Just let me know there :)

just so you know, i am now an authorised DVLA Registered Number Plate Supplier :) that means that i can now legally sell plates with the necessary legal markings on them which means that you wont have any hassle from plod or mot tester. Obviously, they have to be the correct size, font blah blah blah.
I do need to see ID for these though. ID of who you are, and ID for the vehicle registration. You do not have to be the registered keeper of a vehicle to get a plate for it.

Moving oh goody! are you moving to somewhere with less bike thieves?
i have some questions..
On the plate designer what does 'Badge' mean? theres nothing to select?
With legal plates does that mean i can change my reg from something like ABCD 1234 to something like 2ES KWAK legally?
And lastly.. on the fonts, what happened to SHOPLT09 it skips from 08 to 10. :grin2
Other than that i think i might get some when youve finished moving etc..:grin3
troutslayer
28-11-2007, 06:49 PM
ignore 'badge' i stole the software from a car plate website! ;)
no, you cannot just 'change' your registration legally. A 'legal' plate is one that is of the correct size, that follows the dvla rulings on character sizes and layout, and has my stamp at the bottom. I need to see ID to produce a road legal plate. For a show plate, i dont need any ID, because as far as im concerned, its going on a trackbike/showbike/garage door.

you have no idea...! i accidentally stabbed myself in the thigh with a scalpel whilst making yours and bled like a bitch! but i was careful to move the plate parts aside avoiding getting my crimson tide onto it before plugging up the hole with my finger! :D
a bit of compression sorted it out so i taped myself up, scrubbed up, then finished putting your plate together! straight up!

an 8x6 you'll usually get away with, as long as it isnt an anal copper. it will/should fail an mot.
