Basically was tearin along behind a gixxer 1000, he went to overtake but the car was turnin right so he slammed on brakes and hit the floor and car then i hit the brakes to avoid but lost control onto the verge and then ditched the bike before it destroted itself by doin a few cartwheels. I hav bruised ribbs, swollen ankle, sore arse and damaged pride. I was very lucky and so was the other guy. I am going to attempt to go pillion to brands in morning even if it hurts! Ride safe people

i reckon that will easily be a write off. just for a new nose cone, side panel, tail unit, footrest/hanger etc, generator cover, mirror, Parkys quoted £2200 as an insurance job when a certain someone took my GSXR for a little slide on the way back from the chippy. and that was just a slow crash.
i was up and running for considerably less than that but i was bloody lucky really.
hope it all works out ok, and yes definitely get back on as soon as you can, doesnt matter what, just do it asap. the longer you leave it the longer your mind has to think about all the reasons not to :clap

cheers u lot. bike is completly standard exept rim tape now. I went down pease's today to see what was happening about picking my bike up and basically nothin was happening as the bloke who drives the van is off or somethin so now gotta get bike recovered from home to pease's and then it will probly sit over there collecting dust! Had a look round the bikes and will either go for a k7 750, k7 1000 or 07 r1. I think the 750 will be plenty but cant decide! I can just see it takin ages to all go though, i asked the salesman roughly how long it can take and he just said how long is a piece of string! you would of thought he would be a bit more encouraging as he will be the one gettin the commision when i get a new one!

If Matts there mate speak to him, but i have a felling he's on holiday this week, they are all useless in there stu apart from Matt! I rang them today to see if Micron had sent my Replacement exhaust out yet & the response on the phone was """Er Er Erm, I dont know really, I'll have to wait till they ring"
My Response was " Well how about you ring them & ask them whats happening!" The bloke i spoke to was thick as ****.
How hard is it for them to ring Micron?
Im going to ring them myself tommorrow i think!

Pretty obvious !
Glad your ok mate. Was in a similar position last year but spent a week in hospital and 8 on crutches !!
Like mick said, walk before you run, moving onto a bigger bike is not a good move ! This WILL nock your confidence for six ! Get back on asap but dont push your luck with power. Its took me a year to gain confidence again and more power just means more trouble. My opinion, my get another 600 until you are certain you are on full form then move up.
But then what do I know. Heal quick matey.

cheers for all your comments but ive had 9 bikes now including 2 srad 600's and a 750. It wasn't as if I over shot a corner by going too quick or woteva, nothing to do with what bike i was on in the accident, it was purely ditch the bike or hit the bits of gixxer thousand all across the road or the rider. At the end of the day ive got a bit of experiance behind me plus the bike only goes as fast as you want it to! But by all means feel free to shout "told you so!!" if i bin it and brake my neck!

You can be riding 5 minutes to be honest, but i suppose it all comes down to how you rate your experience in handling a bike, and whether or not you can justify your need for one :)
Most people look at anyone wanting to get a 1000cc bike and ask why, its natural, probably because the person doing the asking wonders whether or not the person buying one really needs one or is actually capable of riding the bike in the first place :D
Personnally you ride what you feel comfortable with, the only problem with that is that most people say they are comfortable with whatever they are riding but thats based on their own opinion of their ability ;) (and most people are far too confident in their own ability for it to be valid all the time :) ).
Just an opinion :)
stusgsx
02-09-2007, 08:47 AM
yeah I agree with everything lateshift just said. If i wasn't a confident rider then i wouldn't even think about getting a 1000. I do ride quick half the time and i was getting a little bored of the 600 (I did hav it booked in for power comander etc!) I want a bike that will make me scream "F£&KIN HELL!" when i pull the throttle back, yea its a quick bit of kit and maybe too quick for the road but you could say the same about the 600 & 750's. I know its gonna be like moving up from a 125 to a 600 but im not gonna jump on it and start doin 3rd gear wheelies....for the first couple of weeks!lol

You dont need a pc on the k6/k7's stu, the ecu can be mapped easily & if the the fuellings off just plug in a yosh box......:grin2
So is it going to be the R1 or the Gixxer thou?????
If you go for the though get the k6 mate it's a much better bike than the K7......more midrange & no orrible pipes!
& will be a touch cheaper so more funds for extras :grin2

Yea i said about mapping the ecu but apparently you hav a lot more choice by getting a pc. never mind,, dont matter now! lol
I will probably go for the k5 thou as its meant to be the best of the lot and can pick them up with hardly any miles.

You dont need a pc on the k6/k7's stu, the ecu can be mapped easily & if the the fuellings off just plug in a yosh box......
A power commander is more programmable than a the standard ECU though, even plugging it into the Yoshi box wont give the same adjustment that the newer power commanders have ;)
The adjustments are right the way down to the percentages on the throttle position sensor, most ECU's are mappable to allow adjustability at 10% 20% 30% etc on the throttle position sensor, the power commanders tend to take it further down by using every 5% which means that you can effectively map the whole throttle range and not just chunks of it ;) they are also fully programmable in terms of ignition advance and retard at different rev ranges :)
The K7 in terms of power is not inferior to the K6 at all, it just delivers the power better through a different area, but we get down to the same old argument as we do with every bike here ;)
If you can possibly state that you can notice the full difference between the mid range on a K5/K6 or a K7 then you must be some rider, both bikes will have you on your arse to test the theory properly :D
For what its worth the best bike out of the crate at the moment is looking like the 07 R1, on track its getting some fantastic reviews and that is coming from people who last year were riding K6's ;)
But at £9000 at the moment its not on my shopping list (just yet :D )
The K5/K6 is indeed the same bike (talking of the 1000's) and most people riding around on K6's are actually very likely to be riding unregistered K5's anyway (not that it would bother me).
The smart money is on the 750 for everyday riding (and for insurance purposes) but each to their own, i wouldnt want a 750 purely because of the tank range and the fact that a 1000 will do the same mileage and speed at slightly lower revs :)

Yes the pc would make slightly finer adjustments, but again would you honestly really really notice it unless you were at a competetive level?, all i know is what the guy that Dyno tested my bike told me when i asked the question about the pc....and his answer to that was that the ecu's on the new suzuki's was so much better to work with than other models & extremely flexible that it would be a waste of money for me to install one as it wouldnt really make any significant increases to power etc....
I suppose on the other hand though pc's are handy if you change your can or want a different set-up as you can just download a new map rather than take it to be remapped....but im sticking with the micron system at the mo so im all good, i'd never get rid of the noise that that thing makes!:grin2
Thats when i finally recieve the replacement exhaust that is, the standard cans really starting to pee me off now having that orrible collector box hanging down!
Lateshift
02-09-2007, 06:07 PM
Micron are having a few dramas with the can you have unfortunately, it would appear that the packing is lasting around 3 race meets when fitted to a track bike before it fails the noise testing completely, most have been failing the noise test from new ;)
