Look at the back end of your swing arm. There will be a large bolt going through pinching it together, this needs slackening off. Then look at the rear hub on the opposite side to the disc, you should see teeth and notches. You should have a tool like a big C spanner which fits into these notches. Once the pinch bolt is released you use the C spanner to rotate the whole of the rear hub which tightens or loosens the chain. When the chain is tight enough, re-tighten the pinch bolt.
If you dont have the C spanner, gently use a flat ended screw driver and rubber mallet to gently tap against one of the teeth on the hub to move it around. Dont be too harsh as the plate which holds the rear disc may have gotten corroded and stuck to the hub assembly. That is another matter entirely.

From memory there is a locknut and a big ring thing with big teeth on, usually they have been all chewed up by hitting with a screwdriver and hammer, but there is a special C spanner for the job.
Will show you how in Braintree if you wish.

if you can get hold of one try using a brass drift the screwdriver will only act as a chisel in the adjuster ring
